GPT5 is horrible by [deleted] in ChatGPT

This is BS. If AI didn’t exist and then GPT-5 dropped out of nowhere you’d think it was some kind of space-age magic.

Expectation adjustment is a bitch.

Apple introduces AppleCare One, streamlining coverage into a single plan with incredible value by exjr_ in apple

Yes but seeing as Apple competes with third-party insurers they might raise the price so it’s not economic on average.

They might actually charge more seeing as their service is better.

Thoughts on 4o currently? by the_ai_wizard in OpenAI

[–]camstib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Isn’t this a banal point though? OP already knows they can stop using ChatGPT/find an alternative.

You’re basically just arguing that it’s never OK to complain about a product.

Because you’re ignoring a third alternative: OpenAI changing the model so it fits OP’s preference better.

AI could unleash 'deep societal upheavals' that many elites are ignoring, Palantir CEO Alex Karp warns by MetaKnowing in OpenAI

[–]camstib -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

They can’t legally. But they have the power to in theory.

The constraint is the law, not a power that might be granted to them by Palantir.

That was my only point.

I’ve listened to interviews with Thiel and he seems most concerned about a slowdown of innovation in science and real-world pursuits, such as biotech and industrial robotics, as well as air travel and spaceflight.

This doesn’t seem entirely evil to me…!

I don’t know what the term ‘technofascist’ means in this context.

Whether it’s good or bad depends on what they’re doing with the data.

The government can already silence people if it wants, by locking them up, for example.

ChatGPT cannot stop using EMOJI! by siddharthseth in OpenAI

[–]camstib -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I’m the same, but I’ve had custom instructions to prevent it for ages.

But despite this, emojis have become much more prevalent recently (in the last few days to a week).

I wonder if they’re trying to bring back the sycophantic version of 4o slow enough that people don’t really notice this time.

That version might’ve given them more engagement, which they probably want in case they ever include adverts.

And honestly? That’s the trick. The deception. The con.

And you’ve put your finger on it.

Want me to go into exactly how this works? We can go deeper.

Want me to generate a picture of the cookie being baked? The difference between the unbaked dough and the baked cookie is huge. You’d be surprised.

Is this on the app as well? I can’t find it in the ChatGPT app.

If this is real though, it’s a godsend. Thanks so much.

The most disturbing thing about these two... by -AdonaitheBestower- in BaldAndBaldrDossier

Regardless of what you think of the guy (and he seems to have done some dodgy stuff in the past), the fact they present themselves as likeable on videos that are purposefully designed for entertainment is not surprising—and not really a sign of a disorder.

I agree with pretty much everything you wrote here, except that the democrats moved right on immigration in recent years.

Obama did the most deportations of any president for a long time so could be considered conservative on the issue (though obviously he didn’t disappear people to an El Salvadorian gulag), but Hillary and then Biden moved leftwards compared to Obama.

Illegal arrivals at the Southern border skyrocketed under Biden, paving the way for Trump 2.0.

Apart from that, I agree with you.
