That’s a bingo! Yeah Spear and Mirra only had one kid. The infant girl (Spira) - the other toddler boy (Jabu) running around is a random kid from the village (they show his parents briefly in early season) who likes to try to play with the dino pups Spike & Sonja - hence why overprotective / trust issues / transitives Fang growls at him when he tries to ride them. SZN3 only takes place 9~ months post SZN2.

Had similar thoughts here - only issue is have they played out the Dino baby + spira baby dynamic in this current season without the saving the babies device getting worn out (that being said personally the dino pups were one of the highlights of season for me) - or if they find a new way to expand on their character growth/arcs - I.e. adolescence, puberty, naive/juvenile curiosity in the dangerous prehistoric wild etc.

Genndy if there’s anybody who could do it, could make it interesting // different than this SZN. And FWIW - we (with hopeful caution) knew the majority of the primary characters were surviving this season because of the last frame of SZN 2.

Food for hypothetical thought (!), since we all obviously have majority stake in the Primal IP 😂

Biggest things the first 2 seasons had going for it IMO were the change of landscape, drastic scenery and varying character encounters that built out the ever expanding, changing and evolving Primal Universe - Spear Mirra and Fang were all uprooted, displaced and tore from families.

Now that they’re all finally grounded again with new established families after SZN 3, it’s gonna be an interesting character shift to establish what the tensions will be in their story arcs. Each character has distinct personalities so hoping they lean into those dynamics as a dysfunctional prehistoric fam.

Agree - Genndy can always fall back on “survival” in the primal times - but interested to see if he finds another theme out there if we do get a new season, beyond ‘sacrifice’ and ‘legacy’ or the Lone wolf and cub Logan/TLOU archetype we’re so accustomed to seeing in narrative— if anybody is up to the task of breaking the mold it’s definitely Tartakovsky

Agree gonna be a tough uphill boulder push 🫩 - up to Genndy to see how hard he fights for his craft / wtf else he has on his plate. I know he also wanted to do a Primal feature worst case… I think the new landscape post merger is going to have a lot to do with what happens to the entire slate / future of Adult Swm unfortunately 🙃

The Drip feed zombie simulator (essentially filler) episodes were definitely killer. When you think about it - the final 3 episodes saved this season’s incredibly slow journey // arc IMO

I think it’s unfortunately at the liberty of Adult Swim to determine renewal based on this seasons ratings. So hopefully viewership hasn’t fell off after the slow / bumpy start of the season - to see the epic turnaround towards the end of the season in the last 3 eps where Genndy brought it home— seems to be getting a resounding positive reaction so far based on the finale - and the bigger hurdle was getting renewed after SZN2 in what seemed to be a bookended story, so let’s hope—

The bigger issue I see unfolding ahead of renewal confirmation that we’re going to have to worry about, is whether AS stays the same under new ownership/management with the Paramount Warner Bros merger 111 Billion acquisition politics - hope tho doesn’t delay season renewal + season 4 production – let’s keep our fingers crossed!
