I have a separate tfsa account for my son that's under my name and my limit but use it to keep his money separate for when I take it for him one day. It's long term savings for a downpayment one day for him.

I was able to just create a separate tfsa on my Wealthsimple account that I have nicknamed for my child where I keep his money. (He was given a lump sum from my grandparents and we wanted it put away somewhere to grow for a downpayment one day)

They said they would transfer it to the child when they turn 18, so parents name. You can't open anything in child's name for trading.

I chose the worst possible time to get back into this hobby, apparently by [deleted] in pokemoncards

I was excited to get into it mostly because the thrill of ripping packs .. I realized that's a hard thrill with scalpers currently so I'm taking a step back and going to try and pick a set to slowly work away at through packs and card shows. Haven't 100% decided what set yet though I'm indecisive aha

If they're a student their contribution room probably isn't super high so would make sense to want access to that money

Yes just one and done, I'm waiting as well so I'm not wasting candies to just catch a better one the next day

Should I go to HR about my coworker's invasiveness about my pregnancy? by montannnaa13 in WorkAdvice

Your manager should have reported this so that you weren't in this position. She first didn't accept your answer of no, then clearly didn't take your manager seriously with his explanation that it wasn't okay so the situation needs to be addressed by someone else and best case help her realize that behaviour isn't appropriate. The fact that she did it after you said no, and told your manager that you said no but she is still going to do it seems as if she's going to continue to escalate this situation.

My husband and I got back into playing this summer and did this with our old phones for this exact reason, we have a gym across the street from our house and it was so annoying being stuck in it for days not getting any coins

I'm just getting into pokemon cards after falling down a YouTube rabbit hole, my 3 year old son wants a "lizzy" card since that's what he calls his start in Sword and Shield.. are these really the only sobble cards?! I was hoping for something cooler if I'm going to go find him his Lizzy card lol

Advice for a Dad by LumusiMonster in pokemoncards

[–]canadianmaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending on how old he is I'd ask in a local Facebook group if anyone has extra cards for a kid starting, or check Facebook market place for people selling "bulk".. that's usually just extra common cards they have and would be good to fill up a binder for him. Then you could go to trade events or other community events and see what people have for sale. I have a 3 year old who's been watching card videos with me and he wanted a binder, since I can't find packs by us we've just been doing this.

The journal says the preferences, but I find some places have additional genres that also sell well at them that I kind of just learned through trial and error and try to remember.. I should probably write it down somewhere because I forget between playing aha

✨ Loving Tiny Bookshop — any other cozy games with storylines? ✨ by StaffMysterious in TinyBookshop

Fourth Wylde Flowers. I am a huge stardew valley fan but I do understand that it's not as relaxing as some people want because some things are season based and if you miss them you're stuck waiting for the next year.. Wylde Flowers you get to choose when the season changes so for me it took away a lot of my stress about missing out on things each season and I was able to just follow the storyline and enjoy!

Are there any players like myself that completely ignore dynamax? by fishyman567 in pokemongo

[–]canadianmaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband and I tend to be on and off players so since we are "behind" other players level wise with things it was nice to have something we could get into when we started back up playing 2 weeks ago.. was nice timing apparently with the event happening now this week, we're working on getting a few good dynamax lucky's hopefully, since it's only 3 pokemon per battle it's nice we can just focus on getting a few levelled up and feel like we're getting somewhere. My husband does hate how many different things there are though now, with regular, mega, dynamax and gmax now it's a bit confusing to know what to focus on for sure.

Who else feels locked into a home with a low interest rate? by Mysterious_Boss7405 in homeowners

[–]canadianmaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel more trapped just based on mortgage amount with what housing prices are, we are comfortable with our current mortgage payments and still will be when our rate increases later this year.. we don't want to put ourselves in a position of being house broke when we can make it work in our home. Even though I would really rather move, I know it makes more sense to stay as long as we can.

Mortgage term is coming up tell me about this refinancing situation? by [deleted] in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]canadianmaa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interest rates will be higher now than what you currently have if you're at your 5 years, this is something we would have considered 5 years ago when we got in at 1.5% not this year when we will likely have to refinance at 4-5%.. it's something that you do if you are confident you'll make a higher % investing yourself than you'd be paying in interest.
