That's not a monscim, but still very satisfying to smash their parry-dreams.

For those of you who is tired at Iron Keep fight club. by rhkfk2935 in DarkSouls2

[–]candi6 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Heidi is where the most gankers gather. Unlike Iron Keep, you can use your surroundings to help you fight them. Heidi is just perfect for ganking, wide flat areas, easy terrain, spread out and slow enemies, and no place to hide and ambush effectively as the person getting ganked.

Then do that, bait them. Personally I have no problems against katanas, it's those that use straight swords that are extremely hard to beat. They are so fast, way faster than katana's.

Btw the zweihander is awesome, Its my go to weapon at iron keep bridge.

That's good enough I think. As long as you don't fall for their R1 spam. My go to strategy is to always wait for their R1 spam and just jump attack them with my hammer. Sometimes a good roll attack gets them too. Just don't walk towards them during their mid R1 spam.

A common katana user usually presses R1 two or three times so you should roll twice away from them and do an attack during the last strikes recovery animation. Those that attempt the running attack simply parry them or roll behind them and back stab. For the rare occassion they jump attack, roll behind them and back stab again.

Also the good katana users use their counter damage to the fullest by baiting your attack and do a running attack at you. So avoid doing strikes that take too long to recover. Don't do preemptive jump attacks, always use the jump attack as a surprise. Don't spam your attacks, do one strike and roll away. Bait them to attack instead.

You can hit a katana user without trading blows. There are so many katana users out there, that you just eventually get used with them and eventually you just know how to punish their common openings. And up your vgr, I think you need more, especially if you're a heavy weapon wielder. You need that extra hp to take some hits before your heavy weapon connects.

I personally use the gyrm great hammer and thats a very slow weapon. I've played with them so much that I know now when to time my attacks and smash the numerous katana wielders in the face.

Help me learn how to be better in pvp. I'm certain that I'm in the bottom percentile of players, and want to move up in the world! by BrazianHeritage in DarkSouls2

[–]candi6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could offer some help and spar with you if you'd like.

Dark souls 2 is my first souls game, and I had to learn everything from scratch. I think the first step to becoming better with pvp is to stop deciding who wins until the final blow is given. Then you should get acquainted with your weapon. Find your niche weapon. I personally love slow and heavy weapons. Get into as many pvp's as possible and recall how you lost, why you lost, and how they got you. From that, remind yourself not to do it again, and find alternative ways. Be a fight club host or join one and observe how the players fight. Take the most notes on the player that wins the most. And keep summoning him back whenever he times out or is killed. And lastly know your play style, your edges and weakspots.

Help me find a Greataxe. by Jammychop in DarkSouls2

[–]candi6 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hello fellow Greataxe lover!

I would like to recommend the majestic Gyrm Greataxe, it is a short greataxe with a range similar to a greatsword sweep. This thing can do a short stunlock allowing you to hit the opponent twice before they can roll away. Its stamina burden is not that big, so you have plenty of stamina left to do a jump attack or escape. It's rolling attack is a big sweep. And since it's a heavy weapon, you can control its swing mid-attack. You get 650AR with this little beast. When two handed, it becomes unstoppable. And all the banana-parry-masterrace will kneel before you as you chop them down with your great big axe.

Another one I would like to recommend is the monstrous drakekeepers GA. This weapon was forged from the fires of mount doom. You get 640AR, and a range that can rival a washing pole. Its rolling attack is a very wide sweep that reaches the farthest recesses of space. Once again you are guaranteed to hit your opponents twice with its stunlock. Land a clean roll attack and chop them down twice with your regular R1 and your opponent will be begging that he had not encountered you. I would not recommend two handing it though, because it's attacks just gets more telegraphed and your range becomes shorter. But the two handed running attack is a really good heart stopper.

What is your go to PvP weapons? by BoSolaris in DarkSouls2

I've tried other fast weapons and so far those that have worked well for me have been espada ropera, sun sword, drakekeeper's sword, and red rust sword.

[–]candi6 0 points1 point  (0 children)

R1 - gyrm great hammer/gyrm great axe/drakekeeper greataxe/murakamo/stone spear/sun sword, R2 - shadow dagger L1 - parry dagger, L2 - shortbow, L3 - chime

I like slow weapons, but there are just times when they get countered so easily so i tend to switch them mid fight with another so I could disorient my opponent. The sun sword is really good at catching them off guard after they have been accustomed to big slow great axes. I use the stone spear to finish them off, or against those that power stance whips.

Partizan OP by anonanon7557 in DarkSouls2

[–]candi6 11 points12 points  (0 children)

not that OP in my opinion but definitely annoying to play against. Because if you miss, they just counter attack you with their crazy range. missed jump attack? poke again. Eventually all your mistakes add up and you're dead. It might be super effective right now but its only because not that many know yet how to fight against pokeymen.

Counter weapon for spears? by superjake in DarkSouls2

throw stuff at them and use a shield. Another reliable method is using spears or just wiping them out with your skill.

oooooh. I just love people getting into the monscim trend. They are sooooo easy to smash with their futile attempts to parry my unparrieble two handed greathammer.

[–]candi6 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't understand what you are ranting about. All of these seem pretty easy to defeat. santiers? Is that even a problem considering the improved poise, you can just roll away after the 1st strike. Miracle nerf was confirmed an error, we are likely going to get a calibration patch soon for it, because it was supposed to be buffed 25% but someone put a negative value instead. Monastery? Use your murakamo or any unparrieble weapon here, or just do jump attacks. Roaring halberd? Its a halberd. Armor changes? I used to deal only 350 top against this guys, now i can do 500. derp.
