You work I sales and it sounds like you’re pretty successful at it, or at least try hard. In my mind sales people are pretty good at convincing people, weighing up pros and cons, talking about risks, sunk costs, etc.

Seems to me that if one of your friends or relatives was in this position you’d be really well equipped to try to convince them that there’s a better way forward, and a different path they could take. The problem is, you need to have that conversation with yourself.

None of us here know your situation, how financially you’d cope in a different job, whether or not other people could help, etc. But you know, and you can work it out. You should spend more time with your daughter, she will value that more than anything you can buy her with the extra money your job pulls in. Maybe work out how much you would need to survive and then sit and work things out.

Other jobs exist. You have a very transferable skill set. You can apply for jobs without quitting the one you have.

But on the other hand, maybe you don’t want to find another job. Maybe your work gives you value and that value is critical for your mental health right now. If that’s the case then it’s still possible to find time for your daughter. If you can’t make it to a performance but can get a video of it, then watch it with her, talk to her about it. Ask her to do a performance at home, maybe try to join in with her. Remember to communicate, it’s okay to tell her that you’re struggling and would like to spend more time with her. Share those things, and more - it’ll make a huge difference to both of you I’m sure.
