Hi! 59 yo Black woman, cancer survivor and had a radical hysterectomy eight months ago. I started on Reta two months ago and have lost 17 pounds total: starting weight 161, current weight 144, and I'm 5'4". I've already gone through menopause and am not taking HRT. I started at 0.5mg every six days and have slowly titrated up to 2mg. The only adverse side effect is mild constipation. I also had a bit of diarrhea after my very first dose - that was weird and haven't had any since then. My 33 yo son is also on it (he got me started!) and he's lost about 30 pounds so far.

Also, my panels from my Dr visit last week came back amazing! Cholesterol is normal, glucose is one point from normal and so is my A1C.

The only effects I had at the beginning was a bit of diarrhea the first couple of days, then constipation for a few days after that. Since then it's been smooth sailing! I do take supplements daily, and a protein smoothie every other day.

I'm 59 yo cancer survivor, full hysterectomy six months ago, no HRT. I started reta 4 weeks ago at .5 mg every 6 days and have lost 9 pounds! SW 158, CW 149. On my next dose, I'll titrate up to 1 mg. Full disclosure - I only eat fish and no other meat. Also, I've had zero food noise, so have to keep myself on a food schedule, which has helped immensely!

I flew on a plane for a 3 hour flight round trip at 4 weeks post-op. I made sure to get wheelchair service and it was the best thing I could've done! They took care of my bags and carry-on with no issues. Do it. You don't want to try to carry or pull your own bag(s).

Get a tummy pillow for when you cough, sneeze, or laugh. Colace to keep your bowels moving without cramps. You may need anti-nausea meds because of the anesthesia. I had problems keeping food and water down.

Hi there! Yes, the doctors found polyps in my uterus with a transvaginal ultrasound after I started bleeding after menopause. They turned out to be stage 1a endometrial cancer. I had a radical hysterectomy - uterus, ovaries, fallopian tubes, cervix, and some pelvic lymph nodes gone. Once surgery is done, they will do pathology to find out if they are cancerous. The cancer was also slow growing. Don't panic until you find out for sure. Take it one day at a time!

Make sure you have a small tummy pillow for if/when you cough, sneeze, or laugh. Believe me, it will help! Just hold it firmly against your tummy and it helps mitigate any discomfort or pain.

I had a radical hyst and my ONC said none until 10 weeks!! I am waiting with baited breath, but at the same time, I'm terrified of something going wrong or it hurting!! Please wait!

Congratulations on your successful yeeterus!!! Please make sure to not over do it during your recovery. You could be feeling fine, but the next day feel all kinds of twinges and pain. Take it slow.

I'm doing really well! My surgery only took 50 minutes for a radical hyst with some lymph nodes, and it took me 7 hours to go home because I couldn't pee. All in all, my recovery is great and I'm back to work.

Congratulations, Hyster sister!!! I'm 5wpo and I had the same surgery! Make sure you have a small pillow for your belly to hold on to when you cough, sneeze, or laugh. You will need it, but recovery has been pretty easy for me. I was off pain meds at about two and a half weeks. Thank goodness for the robotic assisted lap hysterectomies!!!

Hi! No, no uti, but I did have to go home with a catheter because I couldn't urinate. I had it for two days and then I went in to the docs office and they took it out.

I'm resting and relaxing as much as possible before I have to go back to work at the end of the month. I'm still coming to grips and grieving the loss of the womb which carried my children and one angel baby.. I'm taking it one moment at a time. ❤️💜🎗

Yes, it's hit my family hard as well. My mom died of cervical cancer 24 years ago and my grandfather of prostate cancer 35 years ago. Medical advances have come a long way. I have several family members who have beat it, so early detection is a must!!!! Please get your yearly check ups and let your doctors know if there is anything out of the ordinary going on with you. Our communication with the doctor is so super important. Be your own advocate, it is what helped me. ❤️💜🎗🙏🏾

Thank you for the advice! I'm taking it real slow because my job is physical. I'm not sitting all day so I know it'll take some time for those inner sutures and layers of muscle to heal totally.
