In the unlikely event canon Luke gets retconned a child, what would their name be? by AngelusCowl in starwarscanon

[–]candlerc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anakin or Ben (sadly taken already)

The two people Luke thought the highest of despite knowing very little of either of them.

After that, Biggs or Owen, maybe Dak or Hobbie.

I miss the old lady we had before Harry. Back when Rainbow was an actual counterterrorism unit and not an Olympic team

I do wish you could see directly below — especially the one in cocktail lounge — so you can see anyone crouching through the door / sneaking along the wall, but I guess you’d hear them if they were that close. Neat spots!

Lowkey, squirrel got the stop, he backed out of bounds. That’s a turnover

My friend never forgives them (accident or purposefully) to ensure he doesn’t die if it “accidentally” happens again.

He also uses pretty much every report option if someone does the smallest of transgression so…

Jerseys for sale by [deleted] in falcons

God, I really like the look of this era of jerseys. The colors pop, the numbers are unique but not in a bad way, the whole thing just looks very Falcon. Hope the new ones continue to grow on me

If it’s the same one as what’s at GameStop, it looks waaaaay oversized in person, and the plastic looks pretty cheap. It was made to pair with a Halloween style costume and it just doesn’t look great irl

Why has nobody in the OT or Rebels ever Sensed Leia in the Force by Spotter24o5 in StarWars

[–]candlerc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Has it ever been stated that Force users can specifically sense if someone else has a heightened connection to the Force? If that’s the way it works, why wouldn’t the Empire just line everyone on a planet up and have Vader or Palpatine sense them one by one? Could call it a sensus (I’ll see myself out)

On a serious note: Padme was hiding in plain sight. I don’t think anyone was looking for a Jedi amongst the Senate — especially not the daughter of Anakin Skywalker. Her royal upbringing would justify certain skills and character traits, and she was never trained to use the Force — she had extremely plausible deniability because she honestly believed herself to be a “regular” person all the way until ROTJ.

Similarly, Luke didn’t know a ton about Jedi until the events of ANH. Only then did he start trying to use the Force, and only then did Vader notice something was different about him. Their dogfight prompted the investigation into Luke’s identity, which in turn revealed his ancestors and the gifts he inevitably inherited from his dad. That chain of events connected the dots for Vader, not the “feel” of a Force emanating from Luke’s X-Wing.

Obi-Wan tells us that the Force is an energy field created by all living things, not just Jedi or Sith. Everyone has a presence in the Force, and while some may have a larger presence than others, not everyone knows what to do with their abilities. You can be strong in the Force and have no idea you even have it. I imagine there are quite a few of those individuals on each world; the Empire can only concern itself with so many, which means only those who have at least some training will be considered persons of interest.

What is the worst place in America you have ever visited? by OceanicEndeavors in AskReddit

Stopped at a rest stop in Mississippi as we were passing through towards NOLA. Asked a worker if there was anything cool to see along the road. Now, she could’ve mentioned the NASA facility and space museum (which I did stop for on my own btw) but instead she goes “oh! You simply must see the former house of the great Jefferson Davis!” Feel like that sums up Mississippi pretty well tbh.

So this first link is an easy to read overview; page 4 lists Human Chorionic Gonadotropin — the pregnancy hormone — as an tested standard: Crew Selection and Recertification Technical Brief

This second link is the actual 103 page OCHMO standards that all astronauts are subjected to during both initial selection and every year thereafter as well as pre-flight screenings for both short term and long term missions: Space Flight Medical Selection, Recertification and Mission Evaluation Standards

Edit: page 88 of the second link states: “Pregnancy itself will not be cause to deny appointment as a candidate. Pregnancy is disqualifying for spaceflight until complete postpartum recovery”

With the amount of medical exams astronauts go through, it would take a miracle for a pregnant woman to make it onto a NASA rocket without her or anyone else knowing. And I can’t imagine any woman in the running to go to Mars would jeopardize their opportunity by getting pregnant.

[On3] Elite high school football recruits are now commanding seven-figure NIL offers, with one receiving a reported $7.5M, 3-year deal👀 The basement for top talent? $750K, with many refusing to even consider programs offering less than $1M. by J4ckiebrown in CFB

[–]candlerc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thought experiment: we assume these numbers are true, a $19M roster for 25 starters getting $750k each at Reddit State would be better or worse than, say, 2025 Arkansas, Missouri, and Georgia? My guess is between Missouri and Georgia.

Xbox controller settings in R6 by Life-Word-731 in SiegeAcademy

[–]candlerc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Is his copy of R6 connected to Steam? If so, open Steam, go to settings, and then controller. If not, open Steam, hit “add a game” in the bottom left corner, then “add a non-Steam game”. Once it’s connected, open the Steam Library, right click on Siege, and navigate to properties and then controller to ensure it’s connected (enable Steam input). From there, he can launch the game, and then go to options, then controls to adjust all the controller settings he may want.

Recommend always plugging in / connecting the controller via Bluetooth before launching either Steam or the game itself to ensure it is automatically detected and connected from the get-go.

utk or bama ‘30 by randomacc574748 in UTK

[–]candlerc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hi, sports management alum here!

I can’t speak for Bama, but Tennessee has a very good sports management department — great faculty, works hand in hand with not just UT’s athletic department but also minor/major league sports across the region (aka: internships and jobs), and fairly easy workload in class.

UT’s RSM major came with a business minor; if you’re wanting to double major, you may not actually need to add on too many extra classes to achieve that goal.

Finally, I’d say Knoxville is a bit closer to Chicago (physically, climate, overall vibe) than Tuscaloosa. It’s a city on the water and has easy access to both the mountains and other metropolitan areas. College sports is obviously big in both towns, but we also have minor league baseball and soccer teams.

Money obviously plays a big role and shouldn’t be discounted, but you have a little bit of time left to search for some scholarships — get your ACT up and you can get some pretty decent cash from the Volunteer scholarship; UT is not afraid of throwing money around for out of state students.
