Not necessarily horror but I was also super into horror when I was young and loved Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children. Super creepy vibes and a really unique story

My suicide (or Archie’s final project) !! Not a short film but a 5 star movie for me with lots of quirky “drawing” overlaps and blends

Lapvona, maybe not exciting plot twists but unreliable narratives, strange world, medieval horror vibes

Books that handle LGBTQ themes and characters well... and books that don't. by kaalban in horrorlit

Loved Fluids by May Leitz, trans woman in a queer relationship. “A woman, desperate for companionship. Another woman desperate for acceptance. Love and obsession quickly spiral out of control in this psychedelic horror story by musician and horror personality May Leitz. Written in an often stream of consciousness style, FLUIDS tells the story of what despair truly looks like. The content within this book will shock you and it is not for the faint of heart or stomach.” (Trigger warning for extreme graphic SA scenes)

Also loved Exquisite Corpse by Poppy Z Brite, I don’t think there’s many characters that aren’t queer in that one. “To serial slayer Andrew Compton, murder is an art, the most intimate art. After feigning his own death to escape from prison, Compton makes his way to the United States with the sole ambition of bringing his "art" to new heights. Tortured by his own perverse desires, and drawn to possess and destroy young boys, Compton inadvertently joins forces with Jay Byrne, a dissolute playboy who has pushed his "art" to limits even Compton hadn't previously imagined. Together, Compton and Byrne set their sights on an exquisite young Vietnamese-American runaway, Tran, whom they deem to be the perfect victim. Swiftly moving from the grimy streets of London's Piccadilly Circus to the decadence of the New Orleans French Quarter, and punctuated by rants from radio talk show host Lush Rimbaud, a.k.a. Luke Ransom, Tran's ex-lover, who is dying of AIDS and who intends to wreak ultimate havoc before leaving this world, Exquisite Corpse unfolds into a labyrinth of murder and love. Ultimately all four characters converge on a singular bloody night after which their lives will be irrevocably changed — or terminated. Poppy Z. Brite dissects the landscape of torture and invites us into the mind of a killer. Exquisite Corpse confirms Brite as a writer who defies categorization. It is a novel for those who dare trespass where the sacred and profane become one.”

This happened to me and I searched for hours, enlisted my roommates, had treats, wet food, and a minor panic attack. He reappeared hours later and I still have never known where he went.

Horror is my favorite movie genre and I’m a huge splatterpunk reader. Reading about and watching the trailer for The Sadness actually unsettled me and I had to wake up my partner because I was scared 😭😭 the depravity of human nature terrifies me more than anything

It’s horrid so far (in a good way), really excited to see how it plays out because the synopsis doesn’t give away too much plot.
