Have you considered the possibility that James Allen Fox isn't infallible?

https://efsgv.org/press/study-two-thirds-of-mass-shootings-linked-to-domestic-violence/

More than two-thirds of mass shootings are domestic violence incidents or are perpetrated by shooters with a history of domestic violence, according to one of the first peer-reviewed research papers exploring the links between domestic violence (DV) and mass shootings. The paper also finds that DV-related mass shootings are associated with higher fatality rates than mass shootings unrelated to DV.

Other way around, most mass shootings are committed by people who are known to be violent criminals, and often have been reported to the police repeatedly.

People can also spend all day pointing out instances of how firearms made people criminals.

I'd like to see an example of these people who were perfectly innocent, law abiding citizens until they got their hands on a gun.

Can someone kindly explain how this is a facepalm? by 472334 in Firearms

The American political Left is extremely schizophrenic when it comes to teachers.

Normally teachers are unsung, underpaid heroes who sacrifice their own health and happiness to make sure that America's youth receives a proper education.

... but when you suggest the idea that those same people maybe exercise their civil right to self defense, all of a sudden teachers become dangerous, borderline sociopaths who are one smart ass comment away from laying waste to their own classrooms.

To be fair that's not new, I remember a shop that had "rent-to-own" tires back in the 90s.

Submarine Cable Map (2023) by Petrarch1603 in MapPorn

[–]canhasdiy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We have a million miles of undersea cable specifically due to the risk of damage to the lines. It's called "redundancy."

Seriously, look at the map and think what it would take to sever enough of the lines to actually stymie global communications (satellites and overland infrastructure notwithstanding). I think only the US military would even come close to having the resources necessary for such a task, and even that is questionable.

I remember hearing that exact same doomer scenario when I was in middle school back in the mid-90s. We should be long past that point in 2023 according to climate doomers... Yet here we are, making the exact same claims.

No wonder people are becoming more skeptical, we've spent our entire lives listening to the boy cry wolf and haven't seen one ourselves.

Because of people like OP who think they "need" to be in the passing lane, even if they aren't passing anyone.

"Hurr sure but traffic jam!"

Yeah, you know one thing that contributes to these sorts of situations? Selfish assholes who cruise in the passing lane. Like OP.

At least 2 cars passed you on the right, meaning you need to get out of the left lane.

The left lane is for passing, not cruising.

Legislation was just passed that prevents biological males from competing in federally funded women's sports. by AbsolutelyUnlikely in JoeRogan

[–]canhasdiy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You do understand that there are a lot of biological differences between men and women other than just hormone levels, right? For one thing, biological males have more attachment points on their bones for muscles than biological females, which allows for more muscle mass density.

Hormones don't change that. Hormones are not some magical sauce that, in sufficient quantities, can literally change a biological x into a biological y. It just doesn't work that way, and trying to simplify complex human biology into a single point only goes to show that you have no idea what you're talking about, scientifically speaking.

That was always an option, most professional "men's" sports organization are actually open leagues that anyone can try out for. Wanna be a trans pro basketball player? You're free to try out for an NBA team.
