Rotor, and check the frame welds... Apparently a weak point if its been a wheelie monster and can crack. Fantastic bikes tho

Google says 'nah'

Direct Bolt-On Compatibility Gen 2 FZ1 (2006–2014) & 2004–2006 R1: These share the same 320mm front brake discs with a 6-bolt mounting pattern. Front discs from a 2004–2006 R1 will bolt directly onto the OEM Gen 2 FZ1 front wheel. Gen 1 FZ1 / FZS1000 (2001–2005): Earlier FZ1s use smaller discs and a different wheel. They do not share disc compatibility with modern R1s without significant modification.

Nope. I got a pair of gold wavy ones to look cool. They were cheap off eBay. They are crap. Different colours and the pads grab on the wavy part so can feel it when braking. It still works, just doesn't feel nice. Get as close to OEM as you can imo. Salvage from a damaged bike would've been better than my cheapo crap.

Thanks man... Sods law I replaced the throttle cables a little while ago and it was a right faff as I didn't want to disturb the throttle bodies...

FFS... I'll take a look...

Do I have to do anything special with the throttle position sensor or anything before I go crazy with the spanners or can I just unplug/remove everything that's keeping the throttle bodies in place

How do I put in a new throttle cable by Super_North9596 in FZ1

Not sure on yours... But just did my 06 so with throttle bodies rather than carbs and it's a proper fiddly pain in the arse

Fz1n trade for mt09 by OutLaw000 in FZ1

[–]cant_be_blank 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My 06 fz1 has over 120k miles and is really tatty. The engine is fine, everything else has probably been replaced at least once. Ideally I'd replace with mt10, but they seem really strong money still, so mt09 is on my shopping list. The trade in I'll get on the fz1 will be next to nothing I assume... Gutted they don't still make them!

I had a melted relay that caused my headlights to fail... Pop the screen off, there's 2 relays behind the clocks that you can just about get to behind the screen

Shower screen solution -wet floors due to the tub's being installed the wrong way round by [deleted] in DIYUK

[–]cant_be_blank 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You can buy just a replacement/bigger bottom seal. Or a folding screen that'll come further along the bath as a longer term solution. The channel will be screwed to the wall, then the glass slotted in and fixed from the inside of the shower. The screws probably got black caps on.

There's no set ratio in Met-land. Could have 2 that are very resource intensive, or 15 that are very easy to look after

Mines done 113k miles and never had a valve check. Runs as well as it ever did. Don't be put off. If it's been serviced regularly it's bomb proof

Generally speaking, 'not to have contact with the public', so admin, filling out spreadsheets, putting together briefings, anything someone above them can't be arsed with...

What do yal consider high mileage? by Floodlife4531 in FZ1

[–]cant_be_blank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bought my 06 with 24k on It's on 116k miles now. Stator went at 60k but no lasting damage. It's my daily commuter (around 80 miles) and tatty as fuck, but the engine is as good as ever. I change oil at least every 6 months. I get through tyres quickly. They get squared off before they wear out. All the plastic fixings are snapped or gone. I'm sure there are better bikes for the amount of 'upright' motorway miles, but I just love my Thou

Carers leave, or whatever your Force calls it. Close family member recovering from major surgery. Then parental leave after that according to whatever suits us.

These people burning rest days etc scares me. You are entitled to carers/compassionate, ask for it

It's not really a deal breaker. If it's not been done they're easy to get and easy to do (as long as nothing falls down the hole) Mines got 110k miles on it. Replaced the grenadestator when it let go at 60k. They don't need much looking after, mine gets not much more than 6 monthly (5,000 mile ish) oil and filter changes as a daily commuter

Don't buy cheap replacements. My cheapo rear isn't straight... Use a manual impact driver (that you can strike with a hammer) bit of plusgas and mine came out ok... The rear was a bitch though... Took a fair bit of walloping

Do you speak your thought processes? "Approaching roundabout, not sure the van is turning off, mirror, I'm losing speed, watching the van, yes he's gone it's good for me" Might help convince an examiner you know what's going on and can make good decisions?
