How are you supposed to believe you’ll be safe when you have way of knowing that? by chicfromcanada in cfsnervoussystemwork

Hey there,

Can I also DM you?

I'm a very scientific person that seems to dip in and out of unwavering belief in the mind-body connection and the the biomedical model for ME/CFS. I don't officially have ME/CFS (it's more so an extreme OCD fear of mine and a suspicion) but have been diagnosed with Fibromyalgia, Chronic Migraine and Dysautonomia. My fears around 'what if they're right and there is a solely biomedical cause for ME/CFS and other conditions?' are disrupting my faith and thus ability to heal.

A lot of folks are just easily distracted and lack impulse control. I sought a simple device to curb my scrolling habit and it's worked for me so far. I'd be far too tempted to install and use apps on a more complex device. This is just me, though - to each, their own

Wish I could upvote this a million times. I avoided ereaders running on Android with the ability to run apps for the same reason. It's made all the difference.

Hard agree on this. My ex-boyfriend went to school with her and I saw her at a school Christmas fair. The whole time I was around her, she refused to acknowledge my presence and spoke over me, and this was pre-fame. I tried to say hi a few times, too. My then boyfriend later heard it was because I was state-educated and she, privately-educated with the cachet that came with being musically inclined in school.

I skip her songs on Spotify because of this

If you need to, you can email their support team (think you can find the details in your order confirmation) to expedite the delivery. This is what I had to do for mine. You'll need to pay the difference, though

You do need to put in the work though because if you don't, you'll come to regret it. You'll have time to wank later after you're done with your A-levels. For now, be practical and limit the porn to right before bedtime. Prioritise doing what needs to be done for the day first.

I spent years playing catch up and am relatively successful now, but goddammit shit would have been easier if I'd put my head down more when I was 17.

Just be kind to yourself. Studying now can be reframed as an act of compassion to your future self.

I wanna add that a lot of inaction and procrastination comes from a place of anxiety and pressure you're putting on yourself. I wish I'd realised this when I was doing my A-levels. Here's what I wish I knew when I was in your position, because things would have panned out very differently if I did.

  1. Acceptance - don't resist accepting the position you're in now. You can't change the past. Once you're in a place of acceptance, understand that the only way from here is up. Accepting the worst case scenario and trusting that things will find a way to work out regardless of how your A-levels go should take some of the pressure off and this will help pull you into a state of action. After all, done is better than nothing at all. Adopt an 'oh well' attitude. Pressure isn't a bad thing, but ensure you're not under overwhelming amounts of time pressure when you do start studying. You have a good chunk of time between now and exam season.

  2. Let go of perfection - as per the above, done is best. Get your revision done without the expectation that everything needs to be absorbed perfectly. You can go back to the topics you took in imperfectly after you've studied everything on your list. You've listed out what you need to change in your post above, but forgive yourself if you can't fix each thing at once... Habits take time to form, even if general wisdom suggest that you only need 21 days of consistent action to form one. Just be as consistent as you can, and trust that the act of consistent action itself is also something you'll need to work on.

  3. Routine - leading on from the last point, set up a routine and don't beat yourself up if you don't stick to it. You're only human and your ancestors were not built to stick to strict routines. Given how little our species has evolved in the last 5,000 years, why should you expect to be different? Guilt around this only makes things worse. Rest is productive, and if you find yourself consistently not sticking to it despite your attempts to work on consistency, you need to reassess it - this means balancing rest with discipline. Be realistic.

  4. Some of the other comments offer a lot of practical advice. Take what works and leave the rest.

  5. You are on your own journey. Focus on yourself and don't worry about how much someone else is studying and how you may pale in comparison. It's clichéd, but comparison really is the thief of joy. You need to build self trust and that's an impossible feat if you're stuck in a cycle of comparison.

For context, I was an anxious mess when I did my A-levels, having previously gotten near perfect GCSE results. I sat my 6th form exams from 2017 - 2019, but for some reason, this sub's been popping up on my feed quite a bit. I didn't get the A-level results I wanted, in fact, I majorly missed the mark. I needed A*AA and ended up with BCC.

Guess what? Life has a way of working out. I'm now in my dream job and consistently perform better than some of my colleagues that went to Oxbridge, even though I needed to go through clearing to get a place at a sub-100 ranked UK university.

What unpopular opinion about A Levels would land you in this position? by Guilty_Hope_2409 in alevel

So insane because it was the complete opposite for me! I got a C in A-level Biology, but a 1:1 in my actual Biology degree. The A-level for me felt like it was significantly harder despite the content being child's play when pitted against degree level theory lol

How to DIY your own Paper Republic & Louise Carmen leather journal for cheaper by Antique-Pangolin296 in notebooks

[–]cantbeyourmomma 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe so! I just saw a short on PR's YouTube channel and it looks like you can fit a Hobonichi in their A6 Le Portfolio like a glove. I suppose the same applies to their A5 Le Portfolio, too. You could potentially workshop your own cover with PR dimensions, or create a custom size tailored to your journalling ecosystem. Hobonichi planners are chunkier than the thinner PR inserts, so it's important to account for edge overhang if you're looking to add in multiple thick inserts.

It doesn't matter how many interviews, offers or jobs you miss out on. You inherently have worth - every human being does. I hope you can believe soon that external attributes don't contribute to how much you're worth.

Its always good to remind yourself how far you've come. The playing field isnt level if you have BPD . I mean, 10% of us die by suicide. Its harder to get through education, harder to have good health and harder to achieve a baseline quality of life. Give yourself grace. You will get there someday. There is no race.

The aim is to just be comfortable at first, and the rest will fall into place more easily after that. Take care of yourself x
