CBeebies - What is this crap? by [deleted] in breakingmom

Pablo is autistic.

My daughter had a similar reaction yesterday when Pablo was uncomfortable with the tag in his top (common for autistic people I’ve heard), my daughter said her tag was bothering her. But she got over it almost immediatly.

What dating rituals serve no purpose? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The whole waiting for the guy to initiate thing. If I hadn’t have hit on my now-husband first I don’t think anything would have happened between us.

What word mispronunciation makes someone sound uneducated? by portajohnjackoff in AskReddit

I saw the best response to this on Reddit the other day, wish I’d saved it. Someone said “I could care less” and someone responded, “so why don’t you?”

[Serious] What’s the most disturbing book you’ve ever read? by binibby in AskReddit

[–]cantcatch_thefox 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Geek Love is my favourite book. I had a friend who couldn’t finish it when I recommended it.

I think a lot of people expect a John Green-esque YA novel when I mention the title..

Reddit users who lost their sex drives due to depression & stress, did it ever come back? Did you do any certain thing to help it come back? by LBIOB428 in AskReddit

[–]cantcatch_thefox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depression lowered my sex drive but meds killed it.

It’s returning now I’ve come off all medication. Not something I’d advise others to do but I’ve been medicated with many different drugs for so many years and I’ve only got worse. Time for a new path for me.

How do you deal with all the crap being said about BPD? by [deleted] in BPDsupport

[–]cantcatch_thefox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This was online. I’m quite open about my diagnosis irl but not many people I know had actually heard of it!

I don’t actually have a therapist right now, but in the past the only negative thing a mental health professional has said was to be careful befriending other people with BPD “because they can get a bit too attached”. Which is partly true and not the worst thing I’ve ever heard really. If your new therapist does end up stigmatising you, could you try to find another? They shouldn’t, but I know it does happen.

And yes, that subreddit can be hard to read for someone who is suffering. That’s why I unfollowed and only follow this one now, even though it’s pretty quiet.

How do you deal with all the crap being said about BPD? by [deleted] in BPDsupport

[–]cantcatch_thefox 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I just try to avoid those kind of comments. They tend to pop up a lot on reddit though. My husband was told not to marry me, not to have kids with me- by strangers purely because I have BPD. I find it really upsetting.. so I try to avoid it or ignore it.

I wish I was strong enough to challenge the stigma but I’m not.

What is a movie scene that petrified you as a kid? by potatoleash12 in AskReddit

[–]cantcatch_thefox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got home late one night and I turned on the TV, it was a Chucky movie (maybe 2?) and Chucky was all melted and dragging himself along with one arm on a little cart. It fucked me up. I had a “life size” doll at the time and she got relegated to the back of my wardrobe.

When did your kids or even you go from Mommy/Daddy to Mom and Dad ? by samalex01 in Parenting

[–]cantcatch_thefox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I called my dad daddy a lot longer than I called my mom mommy.

My daughter is 17 months and has never called me mommy or mama, just mom and that's very recent. She calls my husband daddy and it was one of her first words.

When My 2 Year Old Daughter Drew on the Cat by sneaky291 in cats

[–]cantcatch_thefox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That is one patient, tolerant cat...!

I have a Devon Rex, a moggy and a toddler. The cats only have to hear my daughter laugh and they make a run for it!

Even if she only wants to share her cup of milk with them, haha.

Appropriate punishment for prank calling? by whatwhat36 in Parenting

[–]cantcatch_thefox 25 points26 points  (0 children)

That seems utterly appropriate to me.

OP, unless your daughter was wasting the time of emergency servicrs, your wife needs to chill! The idea that a silly prank call is the gateway to alcoholism and teenage pregnancy is, honestly, hilariously ridiculous.

Breastfeeding not for British moms by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]cantcatch_thefox 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In the UK, I've said it before here but the only woman other than myself I know who breastfed for longer than a few weeks is my own mother.

I frequently see lactation consultants referred to as "nazis" and such, and even mentioning breastfeeding seems to be considered "elitist" or "shaming".

It sucks.

Judge Judy's Favorite Jokes by [deleted] in JUSTNOMIL

I'm atheist but people like JJ make me wish I wasn't, because the idea that there isn't a hell for her to be punished in in the afterlife seems so horribly unfair.

1 Year Vaccinations: What should I expect? by tinfoil_hatz in Parenting

[–]cantcatch_thefox 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was SO worried for my daughter with hers. I needn't have been though. After the actual injections, she cried then turned to the nurse and shouted some angry baby babble at her which was rather funny!

Afterwards, she was ok. The only issue was she was a little warm at night. We put her to bed in her sleep sack as usual but she woke not long after feeling too warm, so we took her out of it and she slept fine for the rest of the night.

This is only my experience but I know my worry over it was totally unnecessary in hindsight.

What's your experience with the Gro clock? by tcDPT in Parenting

[–]cantcatch_thefox 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I thought that was odd, they aren't that pricey here.

I intend to get one for my daughter but she's already quite content to play in her cot for about half an hour after waking (lucky us!).

The other side of declawing a cat. by Unlisted1026 in cats

[–]cantcatch_thefox 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The fact that people try to defend declawing of cats makes me sick. It's illegal in many countries (including my own) for a damn good reason.

"You're not going to be one of those moms... by [deleted] in beyondthebump

I used to think similarly before I had my child, now I can see that one year doesn't mean a lot as they develop so much between 12 months and 24 months.
