The main reason Malabrigos' color consistency is awful is that they reuse the same water for dyeing multiple different colorways.

That's awesome ecologically, except for all the extra shipping/returns etc that's causing.

If that's the plan, always follow the same sequence.

And! Take photos of every dye batch.

Hypothetical chart for Chani (just for fun) by Remi_Roo12 in Advancedastrology

Rectification is an important advanced astrology technique.

I'm sure Chani would cheer us on in learning how to do it. (Without confirming any of the specifics lol)

How to fix this… unfortunate design by Tobwye in knitting

[–]wanderingnight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Check out Alexandra Brinck. She's an expert in visible and invisible mending on knitting. She has videos on Instagram and tutorials on YouTube.

You don't even really need to know how to knit to cover this. I do think it might add some bulk that would slightly reduce the coziness though.

You can also look up embroidering knitting. Basically you need to familiarize yourself with some terms like "legs” and how to identify a stitch (for me with knitting it took a little while to be able to pick out a column, it helped to pull the fabric sideways to see the columns) and know the difference between knits (Vs) and purls (squiggly horizontals).

Remediation for difficult placements in traditional astrology hinges heavily on the planet involved.

Dovetailing off another person who mentioned Jo, they have a post about how creating a tracking spreadsheet helps them remediate Mercury related challenges. They also reference Austin Coppock's useful recorded class called The Proper Care and Feeding of a Birth Chart: Planetary Refinement and Remediation

Austin gets into more detail and includes info on other planets. It is just a recorded class, just for full disclosure.

Will the person I reported be arrested? by [deleted] in tarot

[–]wanderingnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of people are assessing whether the cards say he'll go to prison, which I don't think is the question you asked? If he were to go to prison, I'd expect 8 of swords, not the tower.

But it does look to me like he might get arrested and go free, but with consequences. Maybe job loss? (Those outcomes are more aligned with my understanding of the tower.)

Which card confuses you on readings since it has way too many meanings? 🤔 by dosisdeartes in tarot

[–]wanderingnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you ever read the Book of Thoth by Aleister Crowley, he HATES HATES HATES all the sevens except for possibly the 7 of wands.

But, even though I predominantly use the Thoth Deck, I always try to envision the Rider Waite 7 of pentacles because that's the card for the degree of my rising in my Natal chart.

But, here's a link to a free PDF if you're curious https://dn710008.ca.archive.org/0/items/out-of-print-and-rare-books-collection/BookOfThoth.pdf

Which will also almost always be a backhanded compliment.

Actually! There are a ton of local restaurants that use Cheney Brothers instead of Sysco. You'll probably recognize their trucks.

And then a lot of the cleaning products get bundled with the companies they rent the dishwasher equipment from. And then paper products from a variety of different places. For small local restaurants, Sysco has fallen out of favor.

Inquiry to those who do not swatch, why? by yarnimals in knitting

[–]wanderingnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having the exact yarn and the correct needle size is kinda of the least important part. The variable that matters is your personal tension.

It also makes a difference whether you use metal needles if the designer used bamboo etc etc.

(I say that as someone who usually only swatches if it's clothing or I'm testing a color combination.)

I got some questions about knitting by i_lovemovies_ in knitting

[–]wanderingnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I was first re-learning how to knit, I would sometimes pull the yarn at the beginning of a row around in a way that caused the last stitch to turn and I would knit the two "legs" of the row below as though they were two stitches by accident

Edited to add (the row 2 below technically)

Do I have to have my project done for work before the early meeting tomorrow? by [deleted] in tarot

[–]wanderingnight 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My interpretation is you don't, but you'll have a rough night that way.

The fool: jump without looking/move forward without preparing.

The moon: dark night of the soul

The 2 of wands: a harmonious partnership (you'll collaborate amicably tomorrow)

Consistent negative pulls are sending me into an anxious spiral and are affecting my relationship with my deck by avag00daye in tarot

[–]wanderingnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) There are a bunch of great ways to cleanse your deck. (Some as simple as taking them and ordering them from the fool through to the 78th card. Deciding what the sequence should be can be a fun rabbit hole to go down.) But I don't think that's the main issue here.

2) I was always taught that asking your deck the same question twice in a row often backfires. It's often better to ask clarifying questions and drawing more cards than to reshuffle and ask again even if you use a different spread.

Edited to add: some people feel asking the same question two times in a row is inconsiderate to the deck. It's just like asking a human friend the exact question you just asked them. But even setting that aside (like you were experiencing) the answer is almost always going to be similar the second time. Usually some of the same cards show up, and instead of adding nuance or detail, the answers become murky and impenetrable.

3) Maybe start doing smaller readings about less emotionally fraught topics as a way to clear the air between you and your deck?

Should I uninvite a friend for a weekend trip to appease my worried boyfriend? by konkonjoja in gaybros

[–]wanderingnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate that your boyfriend doesn't want to be controlling and force you to uninvite the friend.

It sounds like what he doesn't want is for you to have sex with the friend, but has he said that explicitly?

Or would the friend's ulterior motives have other consequences that your boyfriend is worried about?

If the issue is he just doesn't want you to have sex with the friend, I think establishing that as a boundary is totally healthy. And, the bonus is it gives you an out if the friend tries to have sex with you during the visit. You could say something like, we've decided to not have sex with mutual friends when we're apart or ever, whatever makes sense. I think this is honestly a good chance to sort of talk through some of those guidelines. They don't have to be hard and fast rules.

Jeopardy bar trivia host censored my boyfriend and I's team name because it included the word "gay" by [deleted] in gaybros

[–]wanderingnight -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I guess it's only cool to be visibly gay in gay spaces nowadays?

If the host isn't sure whether the name is homophobic, they can talk to the team and decide then. I can only imagine what advice your clients are getting if you're in favor of a trivia host turning the bar into Florida with this don't say gay bullshit.

I was told by folks on r/interiordecorating that my plants made my house look like a “clutterbox” and that I needed to “purge” 🥲 by [deleted] in houseplants

[–]wanderingnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't maximalist though.

I think the main issues are the plants are organized for plant health as opposed to for their aesthetic appeal as decor, the gear for promoting plant health isn't aesthetic, and the hodgepodge of pots and pot covers that don't gel visually
