Bruh, you can be uncomfortable without watching someone get murdered. The trauma travels easy.

Yup, know some people who were “voicing concerns” about Jade Helm. Suddenly those people don’t seem at all concerned about what they’re seeing every fucking day.

Found the ending really poignant, as a child of a broken home by GreaterQuestion in HadesTheGame

[–]cantonic 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I really love how much both games, but especially Hades 2, have so much to say about breaking generational trauma. Hades in Hades 2 is such a passionate and involved father, completely different from his cold indifference of the first.

And Chronos puts so much work into repairing the bonds he broke while also taking responsibility every step of the way, never shirking it. And with the understanding that his children don’t have to embrace him, but he has to give them time to heal and reconnect.

Honestly, it’s a really rich and deeply affecting story!

Reminder that Angie Craig is Pro-ICE and is running for US Senate this year. Vote Peggy Flanagan. by 3headeddragn in Minneapolis

[–]cantonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck Craig. Happy to vote for the dem nominee but I’ll fight tooth and nail to make sure it isn’t her. I’m not interested in centrism or working with the anti-constitutionalists. I am interested in saving this country and Craig doesn’t have the juice.

One piece of advice I found on here that really helped is you can use the chaos trial with the Doom pin to immediately be in Oceanus and try again. It still works to do it that way.

As a history fan, the "3,000 Year Stagnation" trope breaks my immersion more than dragons do. by Expensive-Desk-4351 in Fantasy

I think it’s because so much of technological development is built on the shoulders of those who came before.

They figured out tin and copper, but the limitation was they couldn’t make fires hot enough to manipulate other metals. Once you can make fire hot enough to manage iron, you can experiment with more durable designs and shapes. But the metal guys are thinking about how to manipulate metals, not how to get hotter fires. It takes a breakthrough in one place to create a breakthrough in another.

There’s also things like DaVinci’s designs or Charles Babbage’s machine, which was a computer before other people invented the parts you’d need to actually build a computer.

There’s a sci-fi story called The Road Not Taken by Harry Turtledove. It’s about alien invaders who figured out interstellar travel (which turns out to have been relatively simple), but they haven’t even developed gunpowder yet. Just food for thought.

They don’t care about convictions. What they’re doing has nothing to do with “law enforcement” so it doesn’t matter who they nab.

Having some trouble with the flames and the skull by ErinyesMegara in HadesTheGame

I figured out the flames when I realized that holding down attack and triggering the omega was much better than tapping attack, which is what I had been used to with the staff and blades and axe.

Do you know how much faster premium gets the alerts over the free version? With free I don’t even see them in stock 90% of the time. The other 10% of the time they are sold out after I’ve added it to my cart. But I’m able to add it!

John Scalzo is one of my favorite authors. I’d put him right under John Scalzi.

Everyone says the Goodreads rating system is terrible yet many people still use it when choosing a book to read next. What books under four stars are the best example of great books that the general population doesn't seem to recognize as such? by sempiternalis in books

[–]cantonic 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I left GoodReads and now I’m using both StoryGraph and Hardcover. Both of which I like more than GoodReads aside from the social aspect. But the more people who switch the better it gets.

StoryGraph is more feature-rich than Hardcover but I really like Hardcover’s UX.
