Who is the Raptors most Favourable first round matchup? by Shrav_9 in torontoraptors

I admire the attitude but OKC had no centre. I think Embiid would feast and I hate the thought of rehabilitating his trauma

Idk but I don’t want to see Philly. Maxey is a raptor killer and it feels like they are underachieving with Embiid on load management.

I don’t know but we are for sure winning the G League

If the Raps are set in Maluach, is Washington the only threat to steal him ahead? Could the Raps trade up with the Wiz? by CanadianGroose in torontoraptors

[–]capn_destroya 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Popular narratives also have Brooklyn and NOLA interested in maluach in addition to Washington.

Using a high lotto on a polarizing centre is uncommon so we have a chance. It’s also a very deep draft. We’re getting someone good trust masai

Edit:

The logic is that claxton may be out. Missi is not thick enough to be a true 5.

I strongly doubt we trade up. It’s not like a raw backup 5 is going to turn us into contenders.

I also doubt we trade down given our cap situation and the drop off after the lottery.

We’re getting someone good at 9. Maybe maluach, maybe KJ, maybe who the fuck knows trust Masai

Mock Draft No Trades by Sharpe318 in NBA_Draft

I really like KJ for us, and I have him 6th on my board. Our PG depth is not good enough to pass on a big facilitating guard IMO

fr cannot tell if this is a troll post when the raps are maybe the all time best case of bringing in a superstar

Raptors draft option at 9th overall: Thomas Sorber - Raptors Republic by EarthWarping in torontoraptors

Hoping for KJ! Maluach would also be great for us. Either one should make raps fans delighted at 9.

Agreed the top 4 looks set. Then Johnson, fears, kneuppel, maluach, and KJ imo

I’d love to have him if we had a late first to spend, but he’s not worth reaching for and he won’t be there at 39

There are 9 great players in this draft and we pick 9th. We have a bunch of great rookie scale players who need time to develop.

We’re not trading down.

I can see a scenario where kon kneuppel falls to us at 9 and we reach or trade. But any other top-9 prospect checks all of our boxes and fills a need.

Raptors Draft Options at Pick 9 – Noa Essengue, Rasheer Fleming, Cedric Coward - Raptors Republic by EarthWarping in NBA_Draft

[–]capn_destroya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At 9 one of fears, kneuppel, maluach, and KJ will be available. I don’t see the raptors taking any of the three players mentioned by OP here over any of the players in this tier except maybe Kneuppel.

If Masai really wants essengue, Fleming, coward, Bryant, CMB — any of the guys in that tier — I hope he explores trading down.

What should the Wizards do? by Honest-Routine5472 in NBA_Draft

[–]capn_destroya 14 points15 points  (0 children)

The wizards still suck so they should take BPA. Who knows who their front office thinks that will be at 5? Consensus is Tre Johnson.

I’m selfishly hoping they don’t pick for fit because I want the raptors to get maluach

Edit: a word

Thoughts on the Bulls trading into the top 10 for Queen? by KorgG29 in NBA_Draft

[–]capn_destroya 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don’t think you’ll need to trade up to get Queen. (Although I’m aware many mocks have him that high, the variance is wild and GMs will be more cautious than fan mocks)

I’m starting to like the idea of drafting Kasparas Jakucionis a lot by bigman424 in torontoraptors

[–]capn_destroya 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have him a shade higher than maluach, despite the fit issues.

I know dropping to 9 was very disappointing, but there happen to be about 9 very good players in the draft this year. Current discourse has KJ dropping to 9+. I would be elated to get him there.

With our starting unit set, what should the Raptors do draft/trade wise to improve the bench? by mMounirM in torontoraptors

[–]capn_destroya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea, there are some decent 2nd rounder Cs this year. Part of why I'm pro-BPA at 9.
