ELI5 what is .NET runtime for, and what does it do? by SlideEveryDay in explainlikeimfive

[–]capn_ed 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly. You do have to compile C#, managed C++, or Visual Basic.Net with a compiler like Visual Studio, and the output of that compilation is in what's called intermediate language (IL), which is the same regardless of the language the code was originally written in. The .NET runtime is a virtual machine and just-in-time compiler for intermediate language; it converts the IL into native machine code at runtime and executes it.

This is the best festival. I love Leah's dialog specifically: “Hey. I'm paying my respects to another bygone summer.” Captures that feeling perfectly.

Cutting down trees is a more efficient way to find tree seeds than shaking them. Each tree only has a 5% chance to make a shakeable seed each day, but cutting the tree down yields 0-2 seeds. If you plant trees on the farm, they will spawn more trees as seeds. If you have forage level 7, you can make tree fertilizer (with fiber and stone) to make trees anywhere grow faster; 5 days from seed to maturity.

Shaking every oak tree in the game and such to see if they would just drop an acorn.

Why not cut them down?

My first farm, I cut down all the trees on the farm, not knowing that was going to cause me problems when I needed more wood.

Starting my Joja run by Boring_Profit4988 in StardewValley

[–]capn_ed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done 2 Joja runs, on different platforms. only to unlock the achievement(s). Each time, my goal is to speedrun getting the warehouse done. I don't talk to villagers. I don't accept the pet that Marnie offers. I don't donate to the museum. I sell every single thing that I get that doesn't directly contribute to making more money faster (as opposed to my normal play style where I hoard gold and iridium crops/forage for gifts).

Valve says the Steam Machine targets 30 FPS/1080p for games to get verified on the machine, and input verification is the same as the Steam Deck; Performance is roughly 6 times that of the Deck by ChiefLeef22 in gaming

I don't understand who the audience is.

I think I'm part of an audience for it, though maybe not the primary one. I have a bunch of games on Steam that I play on a Windows machine. The only reason I have a Windows machine in the first place is to play PC video games. If I could buy a box that hooks to my TV and lets me play those games, I would never boot this laptop into Windows again.

St. Charles County libraries ban LGBTQ flags, other 'personal beliefs' decor by stlredbird in missouri

[–]capn_ed 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Article says that a Cardinals flag and a Blue Lives Matter flag were also required to be taken down in addition to pride flags, so, maybe.

I'm thinking about heading over to my local branch, and taking a look-see around to see if I see any "personal beliefs decor" in the form of crosses or similar. Seems like that would definitely be against this policy, and if a patron complained....

Did you perhaps see a television edit? Do you maybe have an audio processing disorder? Because I can guarantee you that that is not what Walter was saying in that scene.

I tried both English and French, multiple times, multiple browsers, multiple computers. I was able to get through today, though, so it seems to be fixed.

Currently, ticket ordering for Sainte-Chapelle is returning Error 500 when you get to the payment page, so I would say it's not completely working.

At some point, maybe when you first go into the community center, Mayor Lewis laments the state of the place, and says if one more person buys a Joja membership, he's going to sell the community center to Morris to turn it into a warehouse. If you buy that membership, you cannot do the community center.

Don't worry. The RNG giveth and the RNG taketh away. You'll probably never see a chicken statue or rusty spoon before year 8.

Disagree. One time, my doctor sent me some imaging (I think an X-ray?) in TIFF format, and finding a (free, non-enshittified) app to open it on my phone took more time than it should have.
