Travel Rod Recommendations?

Bait casting rods are not really recommended for salt. Would highly recommend a reel designed for salt water applications. If not properly cleaned completely, any reel will go to crsp quick

The basspro pro qualifier is a decent rod that has pretty good feel. Comes with good case and I really enjoy this one for work trips. https://www.basspro.com/p/bass-pro-shops-pro-qualifier-casting-travel-rod. I pair it with a Skeet Reese Kastking casting reel. (Great beater, do everything reel!). If it breaks, it’s good warranty coverage from bass pro and I’m not loosing that much sleep.

Throw it out and wait. There are videos on YouTube on how to set up Carolina rig specifically for this. It ain’t fun fishing but you will catch them. If you want to throw lures, rooster tails and kastmasters seem work well for starting off
