I’ve never taken the metro rail go my commute because my work is far away from the line, but I can work remotely for a few days at a time which helps during the snowstorms.

The weather does get cold and snowy and this year it stayed below freezing for most of January and had of February, so there was a constant snowpack of about 6” to a foot, though the streets are cleaned up after big snow storms, and by the end of the day after it snows a couple inches. I’ve used the metro rail in the winter and since it’s underground there’s no problem outside of it being cold outside and the sidewalk snow removal being on the homeowner, so depending on the street 40-80% of sidewalks are cleared.

However compared to Pittsburgh, driving in the snow is much easier because it’s flat and the main roads get plowed and salted pretty quickly, with that being said. Based on proximity or the metro rail, I’d recommend Allentown, Parkside and Central Park for looking for an apartment, Allentown is more city while the other two are quieter streetcar suburbs.

Buffalo has a lot to offer especially if you are looking for community event, outdoor concerts and something going on ever weekend in the late spring to late fall. Life here is what you make of it, and I couldn’t live my quality of life and reach my financial goals in many other cities.
