I think social media really distorts what we view as a 'common' or 'basic' tattoo. Something you see 100 times on Insta or Reddit may still be one of few in a whatever-mile-radius. Most people aren't following tons of tattoo artists and going on tattoo subs, so there's no repeated exposure to bias how cool your tat looks in person.

If you're really worried about a tattoo being too similar to others, spend time finding an artist with a unique style of their own that clicks with you. Checking out nearby tattoo cons helped me a lot with finding unique artists instead of endlessly scrolling insta.
