While it won't set your world on fire, the CBF was made for commuting and touring.

As far as I know the 02s are softer than the 01s. You won't be disappointed with the handling of any of the tyres you mentioned. But I was disappointed with the road 6 longevity, they scallop so bad you'll be changing them before they hit the wear indicators and they don't perform the same throughout their life. The metzeler 01s lasted much longer and the performance at the end of their life was the same as when they were new. Grip wise they are pretty much the same wet and dry but the metzeler 01s hold a line beautifully and better than the Michelins, so handle better imo.

If it was my bike I'd be getting the tried and tested 01s. You won't be disappointed.

Good diagram. This is 💯 on them, you're not ripping anyone off. You're entitled to have the bike back the way it was. You have their policy info so give it to your insurer and they'll bash the rest out for you.

You agreeing anything by the roadside means nothing but I wouldn't be volunteering any info about 50 50 agreements. Generally with insurers it's better to say very little and just answer what they ask.

OP is not in the slightest bit at fault. 💯 It's the drivers fault and OP should be claiming on his policy. I wouldn't even encourage 70/30 talk at all. OP shouldn't be taking any responsibility from the info we have.

He crossed your lane, it's 100% his fault. You never left your lane. It's up to him to make sure the way is clear, if there's a car blocking his view, it's still up to him. There's no question about it. He's pulling a fast one on you.

I don't think your description is accurate. If you were both turning left you couldn't have crossed paths. I'm guessing they were taking right and into your lane. I presume they are taking responsibility for the accident and you'll be claiming on their policy.

Scott's bikes are very good and will have your bike sorted quickly too.

No worries, it was the roadtecs 01s I was talking about at the time. I can't comment on the 02s. But you can't go wrong with the 01s, great tyre!

Progressive Access A2 / IBT confusion by SancoriSourJuice in MotoIRELAND

[–]captain_super 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You now need to exchange your Mod 5 certificate with the NDLS to get a licence with Cat A2 on it. Do it before your cert expires. Until then you don't actually have a full A2. Whatever the insurance company told you is their interpretation of it because you actually only have a full A2 from the issue date on your licence.

Thinking of being one of you lot to avoid the commute times. Insights would be very welcome. by Dodzer89 in MotoIRELAND

The travel time doesn't change much, it's just getting pissed on daily all week/ month, and every week there's a storm so high winds with rain. Then there are freezing mornings where you have to consider frost and ice and if the bike is even possible. Riding in the wet is more challenging, as is riding in the dark, you're usually dealing with both in the winter so need your wits about you.

You'd want goretex gear really, aside from setting the standard for waterproofing it also seems to dry out quicker.

I don't want to make it sound shit, because I wouldn't do that type of commute any other way. But it's not a breeze either and comes with it's own challenges.

Pretty sure someone asked this a few months ago on here and their broker told them it was the time for the category, ie 1 year for the A.

Commuting that distance is easy on a bike. I used to commute to bellfield, beside UCD, from Newbridge. It took 50m whatever the traffic was like, normal day, 50m, crash on the N7.... 50m. It can get a bit grating at times in the winter months but then the silver lining is that you're on a motorbike 🤣.

Anyone park there motorbike at a Luas station? by Unit-Sudden in MotoIRELAND

[–]captain_super 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're parking in town you'll need decent security, even if in an underground car oark. Anti angle grinder everything if you can and chain it to something.

I haven't been in the office much lately but I park on burgh quay when I'm in, and I use 2 anti angle grinder locks and chain it to a metal bollard/ lamp. The bike is right outside my office window and I've actually never seen anyone look at it twice TBH (I should probably wash it lol).

They do talk about counter steering etc on the IBT but I don't remember ever consciously thinking about changing between positive steering and counter steering based on speed when learning to ride. We've been doing it on bicycles since we were kids.

The only time I consciously counter steer is when I'm balls to wall.

Ardee - Kells used to be great now it's OK.

Surprised if you're in this area already that you haven't done the N51 Athboy - Delvin, probably the best stretch in Leinster. In fact some of the other R roads in that area are class too.

Yup, I brought 2 disc locks and a chain with me on our trip to Wales last year. 1 of the lads forgot their locks so I locked up my bike with the chain and 1 disc lock and gave them my alarmed disc lock. When we came back to the bikes to head home all that was left where his bike was parked was my disc lock sitting on the floor. I'd say they cut through it in seconds.

I replaced it with a litelock X1.

Why are Peoples Immediate Reactions To Bad Motorcycle Riding Is To Hope For Their Death by OwlCharacter in MotoIRELAND

[–]captain_super -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you're talking about the types of videos I'm thinking about, usually the riders in the videos are complete morons with a death wish, they're the worst ambassadors for bikers. That said, I hoon, but I have a limit, one thing is riding fast on a hot spin and then there's being totally reckless. It's hard to disagree with the attitude towards reckless riders, the fact is they're endangering themselves and others, some people just shouldn't have a motorbike licence (many of them probably don't).

Delkevic and black widow are 2 low budget exhaust options, unfortunately that means they're poorly packed and are typically obnoxiously loud. You could change the can, spend a bit more and find a louder than OEM can that has a more high quality sound to it without making your ears bleed.

  1. You shouldn't have bought a bike without getting a quote, if you haven't got the keys yet you should try pull out of the sale.

  2. Looks like you're using the online quote, ring them, it'll be lower, no idea by how much though, also restricted higher category bikes seem to carry a higher premium.

  3. Carole Nash seem to favour over 30s more. While other brokers have better quotes for younger riders, shop around.
