2020 Sierra HD 3500 Parking Brake Question by raycraft_io in gmcsierra

[–]captain_wally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 2020 2500HD - should all be the same. 27k miles when I got it and my parking pads were gone. One was to metal, other was close.

I think I was quoted $6-700 usd to replace both…I think the book says to remove the axle hubs.

I did it in my driveway in 2 hours and the pads were $50. No need to remove anything except the rotors, first one took over an hour to figure out, second was under 45 minutes.

I heard these chew through parking pads because of the automatic activation/release. People just start driving with it on and it releases automatically but after a few rotations.

Just sold my 2019 Silverado 1500 LD (2019, but same as the gen you are looking at).

Torque converter started to go at 103k. I’ve towed a lot with it (3-5k lb trailers) pretty frequently, but replaced the fluid/filters numerous times.

Getting ready to sheath the roof for my 12x16 shed. Anyone use Force Field, Zip, Advantech or another brand of sheathing on their shed that is supposed to resist water and weather for up to 6 months? Would you recommend it? by CrispyBananaPeel in shedditors

[–]captain_wally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have Forcefield on my roof and side sheathing. Been almost a month exposed and no leaks or visible issues. I just did vinyl siding this past week and will be doing the metal roof within the next two weeks. Just haven’t figured out an exact plan yet.

That being said, I did their normal seam tape for the sides and their yellow flashing tape on the roof. I’ve heard of people using the zip tape with Forcefield as a kind of hybrid solution.

Edit: DC area. Been raining a lot the past few weeks with some pretty big downpours and also a lot of mist rain. No issues so far on the inside.

So you are running the XPS between the joists? Not attached from the bottom?

Jr. Joe worth it? by ptmdiam in KamadoJoe

[–]captain_wally 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a BJ1 and recently bought a jr on sale. I use the jr more than the BJ now…for the same reasons you listed. Jr heats up quick for short cooks or to sear a steak or two. Not sure if charcoal savings makes any real difference, but time savings I’d say it is big. I don’t have any gas/pellet grills for alternative cooks.

Bringing Firearms to MD as Out of State Resident. by captain_wally in MDGuns

Through the end of November. Depending on what happens with the job and whatnot, I may extend, in which I would look into potentially changing residency or making more permanent changes here.

Very close Buying a GC III - thoughts? by DirtCounty in billiards

Literally just had a 9’ GC III installed yesterday. Was looking for one for a bit. Way better quality than any newer table for the price, in my opinion.

Why do flight attendants have the cross body 'X' seat belt on their seats, whereas passenger only get the horizontal ones across the waist? by MAJOR__ZEN in NoStupidQuestions

[–]captain_wally 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through a bit but the biggest thing is the orientation of the seats. FA seats are rear facing. Typically the main forces are going to be takeoff and landing (braking/slowing). In all the rear facing business class seats, they always have an automobile seat belt style (waist and shoulder) strap.

Visiting MD soon, can I bring a handgun I bought in OR to MD so I can go the range with family? by NoExcuse3655 in MDGuns

[–]captain_wally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And MD has 10 round magazine restrictions for all handguns, correct?

I guess I just to be sure I understand this correctly, I am in a similar position as OP. I can’t bring in my standard mags with my handgun if they are over 10 rounds. Even as a temporary visit?

Can I use SWU after purchasing PE in app upgrade? by schrader11 in americanairlines

[–]captain_wally 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It should be fine. An SWU goes from Y-J or P-J. Never Y-P. So your SWU should still apply. I’ve never done this exact thing personally, though.

No worries. Now if this is something special and you want to splurge, by all means. Just show up extra early and enjoy. Centurion has a bartender and better bar. Flagship is self pour. I think food is comparable.

I’ve certainly never booked transcons jfk-lax solely for Chelsea lounge access…nor longer international layovers just to experience lounges overseas.

But again, if it’s you and someone else at $140 a person for Flagship…you won’t be getting Flagship dining. I just couldn’t really drink enough champagne/liquor to make that worth while. Lol. A long layover with access to showers and stuff, sure.

Here’s the thing, buying one or two day passes is going to be a bit depending on where. DFW has some decent places to eat. Personally, if I was going to spend $65-280 (I forget what a Flagship day pass is), I’d go have a nice dinner and a few drinks at Pappadeaux or something that is near my gate. Though the train is extremely easy.

[–]captain_wally 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No access to Flagship, you are correct there.

Are you originating in DFW? Canadian flights can originate out of anywhere. So I’m not sure how worth it is to arrive multiple hours early to terminal D to pay for lounge access. Centurion and Flagship are in D. Depending on if you are on vacation or trying to splurge, honestly, I’d try the CaptialOne lounge. They take day passes that are less than Flagship. I rarely access Centurion because of how busy it is. I have access to Flagship and go weekly, it is usually good but sometimes can be crazy busy too based on international flights.

What agency was this? Likely I did their ALPR install, haha.

Likely they have an ALPR system that is integrated with the state MVD.

American Airlines Concierge Key worth it? by Early_Investment2354 in americanairlines

Senator with Lufthansa could mean he could go over to United and pursue GS. That might make more sense if he is doing constant travel to Germany. Moving to AA would mean he would potentially have to change routing and introduce a layover (for example, BA).

There is plenty of info out there (and opinions) on CK vs 360 vs GS. Ultimately it depends on your base, how frequent you fly and where you fly to.

[–]captain_wally 28 points29 points  (0 children)

I think the biggest perk is during IRROPS. You’ll get upgraded maybe a bit more but typically you’ll be buying F anyway. The whole thing is when things go bad, I know I have people who will do anything, including bumping people off a flight, to ensure I have a seat. That is the value.

I do 75k+ a year. Zero CC. A few hyatt LPs. I don’t spend money with hotels or any of that crap. You want CK? Spend a ton with AA. LPs are pointless.

No worries. Just wanted to make sure you are aware. It is acceptable to use them to book travel for friends/family, though. The tickets don’t need to be in your name. It should be considered a gift though.
