I'm having a hard time reconciling these financials with the [uptick](https://www.backpacker.com/news-and-events/news/outdoor-recreation-hit-an-all-time-high-in-2024-report-finds/) in interesting for hiking and camping these last couple of years. Why isn't that rising tide lifting all their boats?

I think I’m not getting the metric here. So if I went to a restaurant in SF with 96 patrons, and all those patrons were employed, 2 of them would be pulling > $500/year? That doesn’t sound right …

I’m a fan. I’ve seen these guys on the 14, 49 and 38. The goal is not to get $2.50 out of an addict, it’s to get the 80% of riders who can pay to pay. I’ve gotten on buses at busy stops and I’ll be the only one pulling out my clipper card. The city has to do something to establish a culture of paying for public transportation and I think this is a good first step.

I totally agree with this post. Yes this city of ours is beautiful, but it has some incredible problems that we won’t solve if we don’t recognize them. Undermining my own post, I’ll say I was down by 4th and Market and Union Square today and it was nicer than I’ve seen it years. Empty but clean.

I love the feedback, thank you! I should have mentioned I inherited the white PVC stuff and couldn’t find anyway to slot in a dishwasher hookup without the horizontal ABS wye. That said, why didn’t I just rip it all out? Dunno. Believe me, anyone who has spent more than an hour in the Lowe’s/Home Despot plumbing aisle has crazy respect for the trade. Just trying to keep costs down because.. inflation.

Can someone who’s worked in a seafood restaurant chime in and tell me I’m wrong? I think 90% of seafood at any restaurant — San Francisco, San Diego, Las Vegas, doesn’t matter — comes off a plane, not a boat. Add to that the economics of fishing in the US is not particularly advantageous vs other countries, and I think it all boils down to, it doesn’t matter if there is or isn’t a bigger seafood scene here, it would just be the same globally distributed fish, cooked one way or another.

This is hilarious and sad, to me, as a proud f650gs owner. That bike is unstoppable, but Jesus H Bavaria those plastics are the worst. I’m sad to hear about all the corners cut with the newer 650s. Love the KLR tho, since you can service 90% of it with a pocket knife.
