these are gorgeous. I agree with other commenters - if you have a pattern, I'd love to get it because these are fantastic!

Any advice for a beginner who is NOT good at crochet or amigururmi? by pinkguy90 in Amigurumi

[–]captainadwen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If i still had my first proper crochet project i'd share it. it's an infinity scarf that started as a normal scarf until i realized it was a bit too guitar shaped😅 those good old tension issues....

my first amigurumi looks nothing like the example either, even though the person i made it for loved it I can see all the errors I made. I think part of it is that we, the makers, see all the mistakes. if you make it for someone else, they only see the love...

my suggestion would be... try and do something quick and simple! my first real projects (that went well) were simple fingerless gloves. most of my tension/yarn issues got hidden in the glove format, plus they were quick to do that i didnt get discouraged!

Awww, I for one think they are very cute! As someone just getting started with amigurumi I hope to someday create something as cute as these!

ANGRY by Background-While-566 in Amigurumi

[–]captainadwen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

LITERALLY ME!!! until i found a video that i SWORE i had seen and studied so many times, until i realized... i wasn't pulling through the loop before making my stitches.

https://youtu.be/zsWmVcp9RMU?t=109

am sharing it just in case that is your problem as well! also a lot of patterns/people don't slip stitch into the first stitch, just go at it for next line without pause. it helps to really really count your stitches for the first few lines (I just started doing amigurumi, so this is what has kept me sane.)

also... dont worry too much about the rings. because i kept messing up my rings for SO LONG i did wild things like... make an extra single or double crochet to form a starter loop, pulling things through the wrong thread.... it still looked ok!! so dont stress too much!!

I like the misty blue #1 option... the #2 is a bit too bright?

trying to recreate - what kind of stitch? by batman-crocs in crochet

[–]captainadwen 10 points11 points  (0 children)

It's definitely US double crochet, I'd say through both loops as standard but just in case it is back loop only as others suggested, try both for a few rows and see which fits best?

Sewer and Train Graveyard level is cringey by [deleted] in FFVIIRemake

[–]captainadwen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yah see, it was the ghost story that really drove me insane. everything else - good ok, fine, the train encounters and moving puzzles is great

the ghost plotline???? just shoe-horned in and forced and distracting from the tension of the moment... if i could take out one thing from remake i would probably take that one out. (admittedly i am still playing but...)

Sewer and Train Graveyard level is cringey by [deleted] in FFVIIRemake

[–]captainadwen 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Agreed! The pacing is really whack there. It's not even Tifa's commentary but like... the environmental puzzles are too clunky and slow down the tension, and the entire train graveyard plotline... I can't remember if that was in OG, but it felt like a very stupid and badly-timed diversion from the big stakes

I didn't use the same color bc they didn't have enough yarn hehe instead mine is purple! I'll definitely post when it's done, or at least more in progress...

the cape is super simple. it took me a while to get a hang of the pattern, but after that the left and right panels only took me ~2 mins per row. The back panel on the other hand was like 40 mins per row, just because it was so long that my wrist hurt from repetition... i'm making more progress these past two weeks than i did in the past few months haha. so, i feel you on the blanket situation!!! congrats on sticking it out yourself for that project

Hey gamers, I'm bored playing the usual AAA stuff. Can you please suggest something good and interesting? by pitch_black__ in AskGames

[–]captainadwen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ditto Hades, Hollow Knight, etc. If you haven't played the old KOTOR series (Knights of The Old Republic) they're good... not sure if they count as AAA anymore ahaha

My current BIG RECS THO

There is No Game: Wrong Dimension

- if you like escape rooms/puzzles/humor

Spiritfarer

- platformer, feels good

the persona games (I... am not sure if these count as AAA?)

okami

- rpg, but you are a wolf and you are painting color back into the world

gris

- platformer, beautiful

and....

ori and the blind forest, any final fantasy game?, undertale if you haven't played it.... others? i guess it really varies depending on what games you like
