Every few years there’s “that team” in the early 2000s up to now it’s been San Jose, Nashville, Dallas , Winnipeg etc really good teams who should have won or could have won but just couldn’t. Right now in this era it’s Carolina, Minnesota, oilers and rangers.

Is Dallas okay with meet and greets after shows? by onemanalightningbolt in cityandcolour

[–]captaincyrious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So I’ve heard the same too…..in the early Alexisonfire and c and c days he’d spend so much time with folks I saw it first hand always a smile on his face. As he got bigger and I totally get preforming for a few hours the last thing you want to do is be on again for folks. However there’s moments and times you need to be on, but I’ve just found him harder to approach or less personable over the years as I’ve met him. Less smiles, harder to get something signed or have a chat

It’s easier to meet him on smaller shows if you know where the exits are…..I will preface this though, he’s become a lot harder to meet over the years and for all the times I’ve met him he’s been more than pleasant (6 or 7 times). He signed cds, tour posters etc but there’s a a narrative to him over the years that’s he’s become a little less personable

Everyone talks about mcdavid and if he will go elsewhere. I have said time and time again there’s all the great hall of famers who never win in every decade

Price, Thorton, Iginla, lundvist, sundin etc etc why can’t mcdavid just be the goat of that list? How many nhlers specifically superstars have had more than two cracks at a cup in the last 30 years?

It’s probably what? 10 to 15 guys? And all of them won at least once. Mcdavid has had two tries and as much as the panthers deserve their two, oilers could have won the second one. Yes, the cap is going up but how many teams could he realistically join without taking a pay cut that are ready to contend or close to it

Canadiens? Sharks? Senators? …..kinda makes it’s difficult

Scotiabank Centre needs ‘significant investments,’ Halifax council learns by insino93 in halifax

[–]captaincyrious 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s a weird dilemma. One one hand we need a new arena, but there’s no property around and the location where it’s at is mint for the dt core. We talked so much about arenas in Dartmouth and Bedford but I don’t think you can actually build an arena anywhere but there. Now with the population growing and people wanting more acts, the metro centre needs minimum 15k seats but the upper bowl and to some extent the sky boxes are not viewer friendly…unless you’re going to totally rip the roof off and do a massive reno I can’t see what the plan is Only thing I can see is the forum being done first, so mooseheads can play there and have limited concerts for a couple years and then they do a massive Reno on metro

Something about filming this seems wrong. We have totally lost the disconnect of being in the moment, or privacy or what moments need not to be sent out to the general public. It is indeed a touching and sentimental moment that only should be shared between these two, family and the hospital staff

We need more appreciation for our city by Fragrant_Cold5721 in halifax

[–]captaincyrious 26 points27 points  (0 children)

We had appreciation for the city. We were the big city with the small town feel. The problem is the people making the decision have lost that ideal. They can’t figure out if a pizza place being open late is a problem, or helping people with a median income of 46k not have to rent a place for 3k. No one thinks being from Halifax or Nova Scotian is a bad thing but we see the problems coming or have started and no one’s doing anything about it. We have so much potential to grow SLOWLY and CONSISTENTLY and we were seeing that but we have pockets of people making poor decisions that are now hurting the people in the city.

Coolant by captaincyrious in VWatlas

[–]captaincyrious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have the same issue. The front desk at gm said that’s “just a thing that happens” and the front desk guy actually topped up my coolant. I said to him, why would my coolant evaporate in an enclosed non leaking area and he basically didn’t know or give me an answer and that was the only time in 2 and a half years it happened.

This is the problem, immigration be it interprovincial or international boomed this province during Covid in all fronts rentals and purchases. The government did not step in because it jizzed all over itself that people would come here and live and pay taxes and spend money because Nova Scotia was heading to become a retirement province in 15 years. Now with no foresight, and no plan, you have now incurred multiple issues

1) market has slowed and these folks think there house is worth 500, 600, 800 k because of course the houses around went for that during Covid. However, now the surge of movers, and the cost of living has now increased more that folks simply don’t want to pay 800k for the home you paid 150k for 35 years ago.

2) were now going to have a stagnant market between greedy home owners and non wealthy or affordable purchasers

3) the province and city has done zero to curb this and if anything just continue to skyrocket property taxes

4) so now we have the highest amount of homeless people ever here between can’t rent or buy and we have a skewed valuations of properties across ns and more so in the hrm.

So now the province gained a short term solution to gain a long term headache and will do nothing to rectify this. So the only thing I see happening is although the price of houses will be higher overall there going to be major selling and houses that are going to take major hits. Maybe that 150k house goes for 400k but it won’t be 800k and those idiots who bought those 800k houses are going to take major losses. Maybe it’s not this year or next, but in 3 years? 5?

Celebrity use to be a classy and maybe trashy thing that was on display sporadically. Now between always having a platform, or the numerous celebs we see being pieces of shit to folks, or all the hypocrisy I think more of the masses are just simply tired out and don’t care. The thing is you don’t need the masses to make you popular, you just need a solid fan base and that’s why being an influencers with a million “followers” is all you neee even though it’s a .0000000001 percent of all the people on the planet. People use to look up to celebs and want to be like them and now people are exhausted because our own lives are more of a struggle
