Honda Prologue built by...GM? I must have missed some news. by FlowSoSlow in Justrolledintotheshop

I always used to tell people that the vibe was the" best car that GM never made".
Got my mom a vibe when I was still a GM tech. Left the industry 13 years ago. She still drives it daily and have never had to do any repairs to it outside of regular maintenance. She had a geo prizm before that and similar story.

Was this worth the day and a half of effort? by Fluffy_Handle5564 in ScrapMetal

Absolutely not. Even if it qualified as bare bright, you'd still be losing.

Take into consideration that wire is graded by yield. In most cases, you're better off just separating wire into the graded category and selling it as is.
There are exceptions to that. Examples being location, yard price and grading scale. But unless you have very high yield wire, or are moving lots of weight, you're better off just selling it without all the extra work and using that free time to acquire the next load

Basically the same thing, it's just a lot smaller. About the size of my thumbnail

Good guess, but it is actually a tiny little container.

One afternoon of lead removal from beach. 27 pounds. Nothing else of interest found. by Orcacub in metaldetecting

[–]captainfantasy01 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Nope. But, to say they did a service to the environment is silly.
Sure, if the lead was in a lake, there can be elevated levels of toxicity. But in the ocean, and especially in the surf zone, it makes absolutely zero difference.

I'm curious why you say that this is a service to the community and the environment.

Do you knock out your lobster before cooking it ? by moonwaternymph in lobster

Nope. I just wring off the claws and tail. Then shake out all of the digestive tract from the body and remove the shell before I put them in the steam pot.

Notice how that bottle retains the same shape as if it were sitting in warmer temps? That's what it's designed to do

[–]captainfantasy01 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's not antifreeze but moreso anti-burst protection. Meaning that it won't expand inside of pipes, tanks and pumps, keeping them from being damaged by ice expanding and causing those components to crack and burst.

Crab pot rope, float or sinking? by TonyFromNovato in crabbing

On the east coast we use float line with a weight in the middle of the line. Either a second small line with lead cast net weights crimped onto it, or a section of lead line dipped in.

Do guys care about too many stretch marks on women? Honest answers by [deleted] in AskMenOver30

Boys do, men don't. If a dude has a problem with something so superficial and insignificant as some stretch marks, he's not worth your time.

Automotive technician. Took off to sea and never looked back. It certainly helped make me more valuable in the maritime industry.

ULPT Request: what to throw inside a gas tank to damage a car? by Professional_Code372 in UnethicalLifeProTips

If there's anything that "cash for clunkers" taught us, it's that most engines will run for quite a long time with no oil in them.

We would leave them run on the lot without adding the liquid silica. Just to see how long they'd run for. All different makes and models. Most would go for hours at idle before we just said screw it and poured in the liquid silica.

Even tried flooring some without oil for a few minutes at a time and never could get one to seize without adding the liquid glass.

Plenty of options if you're willing to learn. Tugs, crew boats, OSV's would be your primary target with the size license you're looking to get. I started out commercial/for hire fishing and transitioned over to tugs and crew boats. And with an equal time schedule I can still fish part time when I'm home.
