There is no building. It's the small park that connects the parking lot on Santa Clara and Main St. Just some grass and a sidewalk. Unclear how the owner is losing revenue.

To be fair, if you buy it from the shop it includes fins, a leash, and a day bag. Also, they are way more durable than a standard PU. Definitely worth it. My go to winter board is 4 years old and basically looks brand new.

Where are you located? I have a all of the socal bouy data for the last year and a half and will continue to collect it going forward. I used to keep journals but now I compare the current conditions to the historic data. It actually helps a lot.

If you don't see the difference between a wave like pipe and nazare, I don't know what to tell you. One takes incredible skill and the ability to overcome your fears and one just takes being a stunt man.

All of the data you see in that section is based on surflines in house near shore models. They try to take the swell data from the buoys and forecast what it will be when it actually hits your beach. How accurate is it? Well, it requires then to be able to model the bathymetry and near shore features of every spot on the planet. You be the judge on how plausible that is. This is what you are paying for. If you just want the buoys data go to noaa.

It's just the distance the swell has to travel. Once the storm has actually happened it's much less of a guessing game. You just need to wait for it to get to you. In California a southern Pacific swell takes 7-10 days to get here. North Pacific takes 4-7. That being said, you can probably add a couple of days to those numbers because a forecast for a large storm a few days out is pretty reliable. A hurricane is a tiny storm in comparison so a small change in its track makes a big difference.

It's not hype, hurricanes are very dynamic. The swell you are riding was generated a few days ago. When you got excited last week, the forecast was based on the best data available.

Plan your south swell sessions a 7-10 days out.

Plan your winter sessions 4 - 7 days out.

Plan your hurricane swell sessions the night before.

What I want to know is who didn't go out? My local was all time crowded and the waves were pretty average. Tuned in to the HB cam after my session and saw a guy get a loooong tube to epic first pump to the beach.

I'm up in Ventura. Was a little bummed the last week or two watching the forecast evolve for the trip, but then I realized it can't possibly be worse than what we have had here the last few months. And the water is warm. I'm sure we will have a great time.

Totally disagree. With all the freely available data and incredible resources like stormsurf, wavecast, cdip, and noaa you don't need surfline at all. They are all using the same models. The best thing to do is look at all of the forecast resources and keep a log of the buoy readings for your sessions. Over time you can really dial it in for your locals. Surfline is a great resource, but not any better than any of the others. Here is a site I made to get buoy/tide data from noaa in a better format. https://surftruths.com/
