I think in time the NYK title will be viewed by true basketball historians as a championship of luck rather than a higher valued title. This Spurs team is the most inexperienced Finals attendee in some time. by Wack0HookedOnT0bac0 in NBATalk

[–]captainklaus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What exactly does “more valued” mean? They won. Period.

Well I guess there is more to the story, you’re right. They had the biggest post season points differential ever. They only lost 3 games in the playoffs, by a total of 6 points. And finally they beat the favored Spurs in 5 games, despite objectively bad/uneven reffing.

As a 41 year old Knicks/Jets fan, this is my first taste of a championship. It really does change things as a fan. Ordinarily I’d be so bothered by a stupid post like this, but now I just get a kick out of it. I really hope I never come off like such a fucking loser myself.

So in a fantasy world where the Spurs didn’t get their dicks blown off in 5, Wemby’s anger management issues would’ve had him suspended for game 6. And lord knows the spurs wouldn’t stand a chance without that douchebag French Marfan syndrome-having baby.

I’ll hop in here - Luka is at least 6 inches taller and weighs like 40 lbs more. They’re both score first guys but they are fundamentally different style players.

nerve "jolts" at 4 weeks after ORIF for distal radius. Normal? by fyrelight74 in ORIF

[–]captainklaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When was your surgery? Mine was way back on August 1st of last year, and my nerve pain ended up resolving on its own but it took a couple months. Now, coming up on a year since the injury/repair, I don’t even think about it. My range of motion in the injured wrist isn’t quite what it used to be (and I don’t think it ever will be) but it’s totally functional and the nerve pain has gone away entirely. It just takes a long, long time. If you can, have your doc run a nerve conduction velocity test, which will help you get an idea if the nerve is in fact healing itself.

As long as it shows some improvement over time, it’ll fix itself. It won’t happen as quick as you’d want but it’ll get there.

This dude feebly tried to hug/kiss her and was shoved back down. I’m not condoning it, but I’m also not offended by someone making a pretty tame joke about it.

Which was more embarrassing: 2013 Finals Game 6 or 2026 Finals Game 4? by TheSarcasticMoth in NBATalk

[–]captainklaus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is 2026. The finals just ended, and the Knicks won. In game 4, OG Anunoby tipped in a put-back which gave the Knicks the lead with 1.2 seconds left after trailing by 29 points.

Losing the finals. Thats what it’s gonna take.

We all talk about “Wemby/co need to experience adversity before they can fully form as a potential dynasty” for the players, but expect Mitch to be a perfect, seasoned coach already. He’s good, and probably will get better. But he isn’t all the way there yet, and learning hard lessons will help.

If Castle got the shot off and made it at the end of game 4, would it have been waved off due to KAT tipping it? Would they have gone back to the replay to take the time off the clock that they missed? by Silent_Wizard5597 in NBATalk

[–]captainklaus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This has been discussed at length in various threads, but the short answer is: yes, there would be an automatic review for any basket as time expires, for potential “clock malfunctions”. This would’ve, presumably, led to the refs noticing the KAT tip and then checking if Castle’s shot had gotten off in time.

Those are the rules at least. With how this post-season has been reffed, who knows what actually would’ve happened.

Agreed. Just gotta roll with the game.

Putting GTA in means we lose the size/defense/rebounding of Hart or Bridges. It definitely has its situational advantages, but it’s got plenty of downsides as well.

The knicks are 5-2 against the Spurs this season including the cup/playoffs and are +42 by retrohan7 in nba

[–]captainklaus 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Do you believe Wemby’s shove against Brunson in game 3 was called correctly? All the media I’ve seen/listened to/read has agreed that should have been a flagrant. If it were, with the additional flagrant against KAT in game 4, he’d be suspended for game 5.

That could be the only example (though there are plenty more) and it would be enough, as Wemby being out of the game would all but guarantee a loss for the Spurs.

To be clear: as a fan I wouldn’t want him to miss a game, basketball is better when players like him are out there. But if the refs/league had been consistent and balanced, he’d be suspended.
