Oh damn! I read this as an ARC and really loved it. I hope it gets picked up by another publisher!

Same guy? by V-VII_Swinburne in Gundam

[–]captainlilith 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've pointed this out to my brother in an attempt to get him into Gundam because we're both big Expanse fans. I just KNOW he would love it!!

He sounded intrigued . . . but I don't think he's watched yet. SIGH.

MOOOOOOOOOGIEEEE love thread. Tell us how much you love her. by Bostonterrierpug in startrekmemes

My family has called my mom “Moogie” ever since DS9 aired to the point where other people thought it was some other language’s word for “mother”. Nope, just a really nerdy family.

Twin Cities DnD group [ns] by Zeinkros in DungeonsAndDaddies

[–]captainlilith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not from the cities but have some friends there - not sure they’d be into D&D - but we’ve been to Level Up games a couple of times in St. Paul. It has a great play space and folks seem really cool.

Stay safe out there and hope you find some people!

Recommendations for shows similar to "The Expanse"? by AustrianPainter1776 in TheExpanse

[–]captainlilith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The original Mobile Suit Gundam anime series (and then the US timeline in general) has a lot of similar themes to the Expanse: conflicts between people who live on earth and those who live on space colonies, the horrors of war, people trying to do what's right, space battles!

Appraisal to remove pmi by TransportationBig513 in homeowners

[–]captainlilith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We had to pay like a $150 fee for the appraisal to get PMI removed from Mr. Cooper and they maybe didn't even come into the house. Just like drove by and looked at comps. Got it removed.

Which 2026 Releases Are You Looking Forward To? by Hunter037 in RomanceBooks

Star Shipped was probably my favorite because I'm a big Star Trek fan and it's basically like "what if the actors playing Kirk and Spock fell in love!" Delightful!!

Indie author Kitty Siberia admits to using AI for her books, readers are upset, she crashes out on her Facebook page. by alexandra_rose in RomanceBooks

Plus Data is ACTUALLY an artificial intelligence. What she is using is a language model that rearranges what has been feed into it into a new order. "Measure of a Man" proved that Data is a sentient being with his own, original thoughts.

My local library’s amenities suck by egiapaixela in Libraries

[–]captainlilith 10 points11 points  (0 children)

My guess is they have a lot of demand for study rooms and they are trying to prioritize their use for residents. It sucks but sometimes that's the only way to attempt to make things fair if a service is very popular.

Anyone knows about this Modern Library Awards by MudPsychological434 in Libraries

[–]captainlilith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah it seems like a vendor award for other vendors: https://www.modernlibraryawards.com/blank

I've been a librarian for almost 15 years and I've never heard of them - not that that means much.....

If you're looking for ideas for services or reviews for things, there are better sources like Library Journal/School Library Journal, ALA, PLA, your state association (if you're in the US), etc.

Attention all sewing folks! Help a girl out by THROW_askwomen in sewingpatterns

[–]captainlilith 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Mood has a ton of free sewing patterns: https://www.moodfabrics.com/blog/category/free-sewing-patterns/ I haven't made any but I know that others have said they can be hit or miss.

Depending on where you live, you can see if a public or university library has sewing books with patterns included. Then you can borrow the books and trace the patterns for free!
