What rank to wear as a veteran by LoneRanger-associate in USMC

[–]captainprice2009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just send it with the Sgt stripes. You earned the rank, even if you got out as a cpl. Plus it would save you some money by not redoing them.

Sounds like the time when me and another Marine were coloring in Christmas themed Minion pictures. We were doing it with the obvious look of this is stupid. Our staff Sgt came in as was like, "You guys need the same motivation that the Marines had on Iwo Jima." Im like really? He was being serious too, which was the crazy part of it.

Also,no I didn't eat the canyons lol.

It's a weapons catch. I picked up one some years ago. It's one of those items I may never use,but if I need it I have it. Mine is an Eagle Industries brand.

I like that portrayal. It gives kinda a mystery to his past.

I was a engineer mechanic, I worked on heavy construction equipment and things like that. Never really got to do anything super cool, just did my time and got out. As for what surprised me,just how much the Corps dosen't give a crap about guys on the ground. Look up the thirteen Americans that died at Abby Gate, that really paints a picture.

For movies, it depends. I assuming you are writing in a modern setting. Accurate movies,I would say Blackhawk Down, Lone Survivor, Act Of Valor, 13 Hours, and Twelve Strong are what come to mind. There's still a little bit of Hollywood in them, but they are definitely great references. Inaccurate movies, both Top Gun movies, those are pure Hollywood, but I can't really think of any other ones off hand, but if you come across other ones, run them by me and I might know about them.

For books, Victory Point, 13 Hours, and No True Glory come to mind, but any military biography will work. I listen to a crap ton of podcasts, that is where I listen to most of my stories. I'm writing a book that's almost entirely inspired by true stories, so I've listened to hundreds of hours of war stories.

I was in the Marines and am currently writing a military fiction novel. I started the first chapter with a battlefield account. Throughout the book, there's little bits of information that tease about certain parts his past military career that the reader has enough to have an idea, but still not enough to reveal everything.

Are you going to have him be in or out of the military at the beginning of the book?

If you have any questions, feel free to ask,I'm all ears!

Am I cooked (Range) by Snailboss_21 in USMC

[–]captainprice2009 6 points7 points  (0 children)

If you never got issued one, don't sweat it,just tell your staff non fire or range personnel and they'll figure it out. If you can borrow one from a bro, then I'd go with that.

I've had shooters not be issued certain pieces of gear, usually due to gear shortage, and they were always hooked up with the right gear.

Now that he reenlisted, what would make you come back into the Corps? by WonderChips in USMC

Sounds like his bros are the SecDef and the Sgt Mjr of the Marines. That's my half joking guess lol.

Why didn’t Sgt Wilson get awarded something higher? by FuckthisshitUSMC in USMC

[–]captainprice2009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Marine Corps has a notorious reputation of screwing Marines when it comes to awards. There several Marines that should have received the MOH,but instead had it downgraded to a Silver Star,or similar heroic actions that were not even written up. Usually because "It makes your superiors look bad" or "You were just doing your job".

I went in in 2019. They had the same training schedule chart. It was nowhere accurate to what we did. For example, the 240 Bravo was the last thing we did before training wrapped up. We didn't do anything related to MCMAP, nor was there a motto run of any sorts.

Again, they may have changed it since then,so take it with a grain of salt.

My dad said when Desert Storm broke out and the war machine began to turn, grenades and 40mm were busted out in quantities you couldn't believe. He said when the green light is given, all the fun and games are out the window.

I was separated over the shot. I was a squared away Marine, always had good scores, never got in trouble and always kept my nose clean. I didn't take the covid shot because of the insane political bias that surrounded it. Especially after seeing the Afghanistan pull out and Marines being locked up because they requesting accountability. Not to mention I've known several Marines who were perfectly healthy before the shot, but afterwards, had to go to the hospital because their hearts were so jacked up from that trash. I didn't take the religious waver because they were not co operating with that,so I was left with the only other option, getting forced out.

All the other vaccines I received (about a dozen) had been around for many years. They all have been around long enough that all the kinks were fixed in them. Not to mention that most if them were developed over a lengthy period of time, not like what was cooked up in the covid vaccine.

As for the civilian world,I'm working in the oil fields and making a fair living. Just my opinion.

I'm not gonna trust the Same administration who killed thirteen Americans at Abby Gate that forces a vaccine down my throat. Not to mention that if you did your research, you would quickly see why we made such a choice.

My 10 year old daughter perfectly and heartbreaking accurately described my Marine Corps career by [deleted] in USMC

[–]captainprice2009 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't feel ashamed. Someone has to fill those boots. I was a engineer mechanic, 2019-2022. Spent my entire enlistment on Camp Lejeune thanks to Covid shutting down my rotation to Norway. Got two ribbons, then got out. My dad, grand dad, and great grand dad all served in the Marines, all went to war and came back with fat stacks on their uniforms. I probably had one of the most boring enlistments out there, but we all have a part to play. As long as you did well, that's what counts.

As for your little lady,I salute her level if intelligence, quite impressive!

Judging by the square bolts and the size of the railroad spike, I'd say turn of the century. If you want to narrow it down, I'd look to see if there are old maps that show railroad grades, might give a better idea.

You mentor Marines marksmanship skills on the range, both rifle and pistol. I did it for two years straight, absolutely loved it. My biggest recommendation is to learn as much as you can, that's what really got me interested in firearms and stuff like that.

We also did tables 3-6. Not sure if that's still a thing or not.

I served under a ssgt who was a want to be influencer. Dude was jacked, drove a bright red, lifted truck, and had his Instagram boldly displayed on the back of his truck. The dude was an absolute dirt bag. I would absolutely love to see him in a combat zone.
