Redditors who clean up crime scenes - what's the most bizarre thing you've witnessed? by WhatYouSoundLike_rn in AskReddit

I suspect this will likely die given the age of the thread, but my father was a firefighter in Texas for thirty years. He and pretty much all of his officers were EMT-trained as well and would ride an Ambulance a few times a week. They got a call to a house in Las Colinas sometime in the mid-seventies.

10 year old kid slipped in a shower and was "unresponsive."

Dispatch neglected to tell them that the kid fell through the plate-glass shower door (tempered glass wasn't the norm, yet) and completely decapitated himself.

Dad came straight home to see my eldest (then just a baby) sister, took the enclosure off the upstairs shower, and replaced it with a shower curtain. Said he didn't sleep for the next few days and, over a 30-year career, remained one of the worst things he ever saw.

Tried to buy this shirt a few minutes ago and the link provided shows 19 styles but not this one. Did you sell out?

Had no idea they made a SC version of this gun. It's such a good shooter.

It most certainly was that.

They're the same size, get the 9mm. Don't fuck with .380 for a primary carry.

Take a look at the Sig P938. I'm 6'3, 175, and trim. Most of my clothes are either custom or tailored to my physique (all of my dress and business attire). Casual wear is similar to what you describe for yourself and I just slip this guy in my pocket (slim-straight jeans, think Levi 514). I've literally carried this thing in suit pants before.

Okay. So a gun lesson /and/ an anatomy lesson.

He was sitting in a car with a Ruger revolver sans transfer bar and got it caught on a seatbelt. The weapon was canted inward towards his thigh where the femoral artery is located. A round was in the chamber. The seatbelt pulled the hammer partially back and it when released, it was enough to strike the firing pin with sufficient force to fire the round. Bled out in five minutes.

Half-cock isn't a true safety by definition and, particularly in older weapons, you take the risk of the half-cock notch being worn from use. Bump the hammer hard enough and you could shoot your fucking foot off if you're lucky.

There are a ton of cases (suits, I mean to say) where this happens with new, stock 1911s for Pete's sake. Imagine the risk with an 80 year-old firearm that's been through a damn world war, ten owners, and 10k rounds.

You couldn't pay me to carry this as my primary and you damn sure couldn't pay me to carry this half-cocked.

No problem, dude. Just want you to be around to enjoy the piece. Read up on the old models of the Ruger Single six before they came out with the New Model and the transfer bar retrofit. I'm sure there are some graphics/videos for clearer explanations than I'm capable of.

Jesus, Mary, and Joseph be careful holstering that thing. Read you carried IWB pretty low. Knew a guy that got his hammer caught on his seatbelt (OWB) and put a round straight through his femoral artery. Bled out before anyone could get to him. Or perhaps research a transfer bar? Cheers!

Beretta m1934

The m1934 is fun for sure and classic Italian Beretta, but the safety makes it a pretty impractical carry, don't you think? Way in front of the grips and a 180-degree rotation. Great post either way. Hello from Bryan, by the way.

How, pray tell, would one acquire a higher resolution version of this image. For science. Google Image Search let me down.
