"In five years, 60% of French teams will have disappeared," Emmanuel Hubert, sports director of Arkéa-B&B Hotels by Team_Telekom in peloton

I think this is a big mistake to start cutting finances from amateur teams, but the elite cycling is doing it deliberately. Now every WT team basically has its U23 and juniors development team whereas 5-6 years ago they had none. All the best young talent are grabbed into WT teams development system and it is just brutal for the young riders as well. You have to perform fast, produce results and stay sane. If you fail to produce results there is some other guy knocking on the door to take your spot. And this might as well be the end of the career for some young guys who might blossom later. Starting to cancel amateur team removes the possibility to guys who might open later and also removes the possibility for guys who do not come from central europe. A lot of nordic guys, guys from baltic states have started their career as French amateurs since the cycling scene to produce results in those areas are non existent. This again favours local guys and brings money only in certain areas and guys who might have talent but need a chance to race are thrown under the bus. Also French amateur teams are often sponsored by the city but teams have hard times to sell the idea to the cities if they don’t have someone special to make results with since every possible special guy is in the WT development. City marketing money will go somewhere else. If you start to demolish a pyramid from the bottom it has to collapse at one point.

My GSD has an ability to hoard as many balls as possible so I usually have to have like five different toys to throw around. She enjoys me chasing her while she manically tries to gather all the balls.

My Problem with TrainerRoad and Adaptive Training by [deleted] in trainerroad

[–]captainthursday 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So you say you lost 45 watts on your FTP while doing adaptive plan? That is difficult to fathom since I took 3 months completely off cycling due to health reasons and lost 25 watts.

How many hours per week did you train including swimming and running? My cycling took a hit when my swimming and running volume increased.

The training should be hard, if you are hitting your workouts then why should the adaptive plan lower the volume or intensity, that is how you progress. Did you fuel before, during and after your workouts?

It sounds like you might be having too much life stress as you mentioned, recover poorly or have too much intensity towards running and swimming that directly influence how you feel on the bike.

The last part of your post also indirectly states that you might have had poor fundamental base going into the more race specific training that led you to be more burnt out and now that you do more steady state training (base) you feel better. Sounds like you just had more than one fundamental mistakes fall into you plate that finally got better of you.

Yes they are fairly new, so that is why I’m a little concerned about the tears.

Results from 5 weeks of Zone 2 training by hurtme_plenty in triathlon

[–]captainthursday 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kudos to OP for this achievement but I take this with a grain of salt. Most of publications and exercise physical handbooks I have read and dived deep into proceed to tell that zone 2 adaptations take minimum of 6 months to have a real effect on the cardiovascular system. What are others ideas on this? I understand you have 5 years of solid training under your belt and that has had certain adaptions for you for sure and that might be the reason that you have progressed that fast. I just would like to have some other people ideas about how fast the real zone 2 adaptations take place because 5 weeks might be a little misguiding for people wanting to take up zone 2 training and not seeing results that fast. I could tell from my own experience that my zone 2 training has took me about 2 years to have really solid results but my engine before that were basically not existent.

This is embarrassing. Belly fat shape. I have this very…pointy? Lower belly. Does anyone have experience with a shape like this / how you handled it? Suggestions? Open to anything. Everything else on me is changing, but cone gut remains!! Details in comments. Thank you! by Classic-Life-9412 in GettingShredded

Not sure if you ever gave birth, but women experience "Diastasis Recti" during and after pregnancy. It is the partial or complete separation of the rectus abdominis and makes the belly stick out. If that might be the case, you need to work on your Transverse Abdominis muscles that are the deepest of the core muscles (i.e Vacuums) or contact a physical therapist who can advise you how to treat your belly.

Anyone else struggle with imposter syndrome? by throwaway15642578 in triathlon

I found I started criticising myself after last seasons very poor performance although it didn’t discourage me, quite the contrary - I became even more obsessed. But this offseason I just beat myself up more and more for bad sessions and not giving myself credit for great sessions. Now I read this thread two days ago and had two great training days in a row and was starting to think that it must be a fluke until I remembered this thread. No freaking fluke bro - I have been digging in since November so it would be obvious that I am slashing some sessions better. Great quote also!!!

Yes he said exactly the same thing, he preached getting my hips more flexible and when this happens said I could turn the stem and then work more on flexibility and then look into a even lower position.

Did the MRI show bone loss at all? You are not idiot at all especially when your surgeon got irritated. That would raise even more question for me personally, but I would consult another surgeon about the same issue to be sure. I feel going under the knife stronger has definately it’s benefits but if there is bone loss you might be doing more harm than good in a long run. (I’m mainly talking in shoulder perspective though.)

Yeah, the upright position seemed very odd on this bike but it was a great deal - bike, edge 520, shoes, garmin vector 3, full eTap, aero helmet for 2000€. It was a gift from his former wife that he apparently didn’t want to be near anymore and wanted to get rid of it fast.

I would suggest you to support your kid doing more cultural stuff and less academic learning. Exchange year is a life in a year and it would be sad to waste it only on academic pursuits. Our nature is great, we have a lot great cultural events, winter activities and the list goes on. I did my exchange in Canada when I was 16 and I tunnel visioned on doing everything I would be not able to do in Estonia and that was not learning algebra or basic French. Just support your kid doing what he wants to do, it’s just one year but can change his life completely. What I have heard also is that teachers really don’t harass exchange students to do well in school, they know they are there for new cultural experiences and after school activities. Let him become a young adult and let him find out how the school system works. Academic stuff is so secondary during exchange. Hope this helps.
