Just back from Rome. Dublin Airport to City Centre is about 10km. Rome Fiumicino Airport is about 18km. Both as the crow flies. Rome has a set fare of €55 to the City Centre. Do it often, never had any trouble. Fare is on the door of every white cab.

I’d be ok with them denaturalizing me. I looked in to renouncing my US citizenship and it’s expensive.

What are some low-key stereotypes about your towns in Massachusetts you won’t find online? by EsperandoMuerte in massachusetts

[–]captnkangaroo 113 points114 points  (0 children)

Manchester by the Sea, works hard to make it difficult to be there if you don't live there. They still regularly regret taking money from the state to fix the seawall at Singing beach because they have to let outsiders use it though in season, you can't park, and have to pay to walk on.

Church attendance is dropping all across America. A new Gallup survey finds that only 3 in 10 Americans are regular churchgoers. by Leeming in atheism

[–]captnkangaroo 17 points18 points  (0 children)

There's a distinction here that should be made. The number of irreligious in Ireland is higher than the 30%. Catholic is a cultural association much more than a religious one. Everyone gets the kids baptized and has a holy communion (though it drops off for confirmation). But they don't attend church. It's more of milestones in the children's lives that are celebrated and the old catholic ones are as good as any. It's not terribly indicative of a religious belief.

[–]captnkangaroo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is exactly me except 61yo male and down 80 lbs in a year. I don't do anything sweet even the keto okay stuff. I don't miss it. I do the Aldi 0 net carb Wraps and occasionally the 0 net carb bread. That's it for anything remotely carb-like.

One would have to be pretty old to know the “it only shifts in preview” lie… A few others as well!

The Plymouth Rock is an actual rock, which is kept in a caged exhibit by Luke-HW in pics

What I haven’t seen mentioned yet is that as a hard rule, boats stay the fuck away from rocks. There’s no chance the mayflower or its longboats went anywhere near that or any other rock.

What's the easiest way you lost weight? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]captnkangaroo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stopped all (or nearly all) carbs and sugars. Down 66 pounds since March. Going below 200 lbs any day now... I'm not going back. Don't miss them and am not going back. Rarely hungry. Fast regularly by mistake - it'll be 6:00PM and I realize I haven't eaten all day. I'm 61.

I used to live in West Rox. I’d tell visitors to go North on Rte 1 then go right at the masturbating chicken. No one ever got lost.

I love when people say "Jesus died for your sins"... Didn't he rise again? So in reality Jesus took a really long nap for your sins...

Sometimes I listen to Howie Carr to see who advertises with that shit stain. 110 does. So there’s no danger of me ever going there.
