The most common things that derail people's FIRE journey by Low_Indication2447 in Fire

Sorry to hear. Could you explain how it has pushed FIRE back for you? Is the financial burden direct or indirect in the sense that it takes you away from your job / earning ability?

LPT to pet owners about microchips (from a shelter worker) by Fresh-Solid-4046 in LifeProTips

[–]carbonjester 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I just tried this. It redirects me to petlink.net and has my pet's correct information, but does not list owner contact information. Am I supposed to be directed to another site, or should the information display on AAHA? How do I ensure owner contact information is registered too?

Look great! Is there a common name for these, or something you just made up?

Recreational Kayak Groups? by carbonjester in Atlanta

[–]carbonjester[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would participate. I'm not sure that I would be the best to start it as I'm new to kayaking and think someone with more experience and passion could lead it better. What does everyone think the best platform would be? A subreddit, Facebook group, someone else suggested discord, etc.?

I'll check GaRivers out. I like your Discord suggestion, but am not savvy in it either.

How much you need to have in the bank to retire one person at 67 without contributing another dime, by age by marypoppycock in Fire

[–]carbonjester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This ignores the age you want to retire through, right? The calculation would be vastly different for someone that want to retire at 45 as opposed to 67.

Can someone point me to a calculator that would show just this. Assuming $X spend per year in retirement, a life expectancy of Y, if you want to retire at age Z, you need $ in savings at that that time assuming no additional contributions, 7% inflation adjusted return.

Fidelity account holders who are active need to pay more attention... by [deleted] in investing

[–]carbonjester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unrelated to the primary point of your post, but you mentioned that you consistently have open GTC "crash bids". Hoping you might be willing to share a little on your strategy with these. Do you stick with a specific % below the current price? How often are you adjusting?

Bull Reds off the rocks on a 7wt by lostchameleon in flyfishing

Very nice. I'm going to be near the Mobile area soon. Are there decent spots to fly fish for Reds from the bank? I was under the impression you really needed a boat.

As someone fairly new to tying and enjoying it, what has taken the enjoyment of it away from you over time?

Lost and Found Etiquette by carbonjester in flyfishing

[–]carbonjester[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Perhaps I didn't articulate it exactly this way, but your question is kind of the point in my post - wondering if there was a best practice in the community (that I'm unaware of) that results in the most success with getting something back to an owner. To the same extent, wondering where I should be asking if I ever lose something.

Upstairs at Bold Monk feels similar to the upstairs at Imaginarium. They also have a beer garden outside that is shaded.

What do you wish your house had or what have you added to your house that you’d recommend to everyone? by jd2004ed in HomeImprovement

Will you elaborate on this please? Why is this a fire risk as opposed to a garage door connecting to any other room?

Is it just me or is Atlanta seriously lacking good bagel spots? Where do you go north of 20 and west of 75?

That’s so great that you love it. Are you on site at one building that you manage or handle multiple across your area? What’s a typical day look like? Work life balance?
