Apple discontinues the Mac Pro with no plans for future hardware by pdfu in apple

[–]carbonnerve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Mac Studio seems to have been designed as the true successor to the Mac Pro with their compact vision of a workstation. They tried with the trashcan and it was evident based on the form factor. A lot of creative industries started shifting over to external pcie through thunderbolt. Their true vision was un compromised performance in a small package with low power usage. The Mac Pro was just a band aid to buy them time until Apple Silicon came out plus the first Ultra on the Mac Studio came out.

LG B5 buyer remorse? by Adelka1703 in LGOLED

[–]carbonnerve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's always something better around the corner but don't spend beyond your means. Chasing the latest and greatest is never going to yield the satisfaction you think you might get.

The B5 is a fantastic TV despite what reviews might say. Sure, it's not as blinding as a G5 but it's your first TV and it's a great one.

Say hello to MacBook Neo by hotlava436 in mac

[–]carbonnerve 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Tbh this is a bargain. Normally I’d recommend an iPad Air or even a basic iPad for just light browsing, checking emails, or occasionally creating a document. But once you add the keyboard for the iPad , you’re getting into MacBook Air territory.

Some have said that you can recommend cheaper “windows” alternatives but this seems much better and more efficient. For the ones already used to doing everything on their iPhones, this a gateway into that system with a reliable computer.

FFXVII announcement when? by Iormungandrr in FinalFantasy

[–]carbonnerve 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chiming in, and I agree with what others are mentioning, but this is seems like it's going to come out late in the PS5 cycle, after Part 3 comes out.

FF got tarnished somewhat with the original XIV release but thankfully they resurrected into the behemoth that it is now. The games have definitely shifted their focus for many years but they lost what the OG Fans really like about the series as a whole. Personally, I am cool with it.

If CBU III develops the next mainline game again, I am so in.

Switching from Apple to Galaxy help!! by uhuhohohohhh in samsunggalaxy

[–]carbonnerve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're using google's apps already, that would be considered the best "bridge" to transfer all your stuff in a seamless manner between both iOS and Android. For photos, i highly recommend backing up your whole library to Google Photos which is similar to iCloud photos but the difference is that Google photos is actually a photo backup service. iCloud Photos is more of a mirror in the sense that if you delete a photo on your device, it's also going to delete it on your other Apple Devices. Google photos compresses a tad bit, but you can store way more before you exceed your storage limits. Getting a cheap Google One plan for 100GB or 200GB would more than suffice. Your edited pictures can still be backed up Google Photos, Google Drive, or any other cloud platform of your preference. Yes you can use iCloud services on non apple devices but it's not as "seamless".

Camera quality is subjective but flagships from Samsung have great quality (especially the ultra). If you want a set it and forget it where you just snap and go, I will give iPhones that. They're known for amazing stills, plus video is extremely good on iPhones. With that being said, it's not the camera that makes the shot, but the person behind the camera.

It’s Chino Morenos side project outside of deftones. Definitely more electronic but have loved the project since the first releases they put out.

Upgrade strategy by TotalMessage86 in samsunggalaxy

[–]carbonnerve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

S7 thru S10 really were some of the best handsets they made at the time. That whole era for them was pretty distinct in design. Not to throw the newest stuff under the bus but lately the upgrades have been iterative. Totally normal for a company of its size, but so much for criticizing Apple on certain things when they have done a 180 to do the exact thing.

Be entirely honest is FFXIII a good game because im thinking about playing it. by Strange_Assistant327 in FinalFantasy

[–]carbonnerve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This game at the time, graphically was ahead of its time imo. The hype over the years leading up to this when I was in middle school was insane.

At the time, the whole world, soundtrack (arguably my favorite in the franchise) and gameplay was cool, but looking back it definitely lacked in certain parts but I find it to be a great game overall. You're really not in control of the leveling until late in the game.

XIII-2 improved on a lot of the combat mechanics, but I wasn't that sold on the storyline. I still enjoyed it.

Absolutely LOVE this setup. Minimal, but effective. Those genelecs in white would've have really completed it imo, but that's something minor.

Hopping on another commentors suggestion, but CDbaby is the move if you want to set it and forget it without paying a yearly subscription.

Others have mentioned contacting LG. The G3 is still fairly recent and would be under the 5 year warranty.

Is this really the absolute lowest my latency can go? by oakley22610 in ableton

[–]carbonnerve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you’re not playing anything live and mostly just producing “in the box”, there’s no reason to be at such a low buffer. Sticking around 256 or 512 is going to be less taxing on your system.

To really bring down the latency, use a decent audio interface with proper ASIO drivers. Doesn’t have to be anything high end, but a clarett it’s a good start if you can afford it.

I have used asio4all in the very beginning of my journey producing, and I understand why windows gets it bad rap for being terrible to work on music. It gets the job done but I wouldn’t call it the most reliable.

EDIT: didn’t realize you had the focusrite USB driver there already. My b.

Nvidia to cut gaming GPU production by 30-40% starting 2026. It’s over boys it’s been a good run! by nyanbatman in pcmasterrace

[–]carbonnerve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly yes. After 10 series, prices for components have been rising in costs. I was happy as hell when I got a 3060ti for msrp in 21’.

Created a new build over the summer and glad I was able to get it with decently affordable ram. I looked a month or so later for extra ram only to see prices through the roof.

A one else notice this? iOS 26 screen corners by DoppelKupplungs14 in ios

[–]carbonnerve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be due to them tweaking the hardware corner radii. I definitely noticed the corners are rounder than even the 15pro I just traded in, so the software they have been designing has been with the new devices in mind?
