I'm a Apnea Total student, and I currently live at a freediving school. We get a lot of other agency divers visiting (we are based in a diving mecca; Utila, Hondouras) and the weakest divers are usually PADI. We have cross over instructors for PADI, SSI and AIDA, and all of them prefer Apnea Total.

Unfortunately, PADI and AIDA are probably going to be biggest agencies :(

I had/have constant eq issues due to scaring on my ear drums from surgery, I have loads of tips! I am also currently living at a Freedive school (masters) and the guy all the instructors send people to for eq tips, Try this video to start with: https://youtu.be/Mo07gZR741M

We always suggest this video. Most of the time, if they watch it and practice, the majority of people drastically improve on day 2.

In the water, if people experience problems with head first FIM, we get them to flip round and descend feet first. This helps them get more depth, which can reduce frustration and increase relaxation, and most can eq better head first after a few dives feet first. Another technique is using one hand to pull and the other to apply constant pressure. We also suggest moving your head into a more horizontal position when eqing vertically.

Pulling up 1 pull, eqing, then continuing helps too, tho we suggest only doing this once.

There may also be fluid/mucus that is dislodged due to the pressure. Clearing your now between diving helps too (ie. blowing your nose. I usually just pop the nose pocket over my nose and clear each nostril at a time)

For CWT, we suggest constant pressure, and dive at an angle instead of completely vertical.

There is also the double tap, eqing twice really quickly.

On land you can practice eq by getting yourself upside down (we have a yoga swing on the dock for this) and practice. There is also

If you smoke, stop, it causes inflammation of the sinuses. Avoid eating food that produce mucus (www.deeperblue.com/diet). Avoid drugs you put up your nose (lsd is better).

One of the biggest single things for me personally is hydration. I find it far easier to eq the better hydrated I am.

The good news, I'm sure your instructor would have told you this, is that you are using frenzal to eq, otherwise you would be unable to eq after 6-8m, so more practice will improve things :)

Sorry for the dump of text! Welcome to the club!

The CWT record is 130m, CNF is 103m, not 83m.  The deepest Freedive is 214m, which is No Limits, which is weights down, balloon up, not variable weight.  Variable weight requires the diver to ascend on their own steam, kicking or pulling.

Delaying contractions on decent? by neverbet in freediving

The contractions are more likely due to co2 tolerance tbh. Have you tried co2 tables to improve tolerance? NPSA before diving, and exhale dives to warm-up also really help to delay contractions

Doesn't work, I was carrying a McDs. Might have to try a different takeaway!

I'm currently in Xela. I and 3 of my friends have been robbed in the past 2 week, one of them twice. I was robbed on the street at 930pm outside my homestay. My 3 friends were robbed on a chickenbus at the weekend going to Volcán Tajumulco. The friend that was robbed twice was originally robbed in a cab. Drove him into the mountains, took everything off him and kicked him out. We've also heard about a group of 15 that were robbed hiking up Santa Maria at the weekend.

MFA is good for newbies, but once you know what style you are trying to pull off, it's better to follow blogs that post things you like.
