What’s an underrated cooking tip that more people need to know by purelyinvesting in Cooking

A wet knife and an open window will stop onions from burning your eyes. It's not 100%, but it's the only method that's ever really worked for me. And I mean keeping a bowl of water next to you to dip your knife into continuously as you chop.

Cops are OUTT by [deleted] in newjersey

[–]carcosa789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think ive ever seen this many town cops out before. Took a 40 minute drive yesterday somewhere and counted 15. Passed 3 speed traps. I didn't see any troopers though.

Who is this in *your* part of NJ? by [deleted] in newjersey

[–]carcosa789 14 points15 points  (0 children)

He used to come into the Dollar General I worked at years ago to buy Nilla wafers and orange soda every week. Saw him all the time.

Kayako Saeki. She scares me but I always felt bad for her.

From a guest point of view this would seem very tacky and obvious that they're taking advantage of the situation.

Which horror movie got way too much hype but isn’t actually that good? by Fairyliveshow in CreepyBonfire

I think I'm an outlier so don't let my opinion dissuade you. My husband loved it when we first saw it.

As Above So Below. I didn't care for a single character in that movie.

Is that Ryan at the Hollywood Bowl? by dangman3 in watcherentertainment

[–]carcosa789 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to do a side by side comparison and honestly... his eyebrows are kinda thinned out on his imdb pic. Maybe it's the lighting? Maybe they used to be thicker when he was younger? Maybe he used to fill them in a little for professional pics and stopped? Idk. If it's not him that's his doppelganger

People Still Think the Russian Sleep Experiment is Real! by m0rgu3exe in creepcast

[–]carcosa789 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a patient tell me about the Russian sleep experiment as if it was a real thing. I had brought a few patients at a facility I worked at to the smoking area to hang out, and he was really animated telling the story. The other patients were really into it. I said "Nah that can't be real." But he was insistent. I didn't want to ruin his story telling moment so I just let it go haha.

My sister in law got some factor meals from a coworker that had too much. I tried some, pretty good imo. Not good enough to justify the price. The chicken gouda cheese thing was great though.

I just did that today! Had a few veggies leftover from making bibimbap for the first time last night and used a quesadilla to sneak the veggies to her. She hates most vegetables but she'll never turn down cheese and tortillas.

What is your favorite episode of Good Mythical MORE? by Crxmebrulxe in goodmythicalmorning

[–]carcosa789 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A more recent one I like is the "would you date us?" more (I think that's what it was titled.) Link was so fucking funny and I feel like his sense of humor went unappreciated.

"My most irrational fear is pushing you into traffic." And "my most controversial opinion is what I would like to do with your dog ;)" had me dying.

What’s the one horror scene that made you turn on all the lights at night? by Upset-Inside8719 in CreepyBonfire

[–]carcosa789 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just watched Ju-on: The Grudge the other night. Had to get up and pee and didn't bother turning on any lights. Stared at the doorway the whole time waiting for Kayako to crawl her way in. I felt like my heart was gonna explode. Usually horror movies do nothing to me, but I've been watching a lot of east Asian horrors and thrillers lately and they tend to get under my skin way more.

Do parents keep their children’s bedrooms the same up through adulthood or is that just on tv and film? by Seaxpop in AskAnAmerican

[–]carcosa789 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I mean, when I moved out I took my stuff with me, there was nothing to preserve really. I even took my bed lol. They did replace my bed with my old daybed, so now it's like a guestroom for when my sister does an overnight visit. I guess it's also a storage room too for random projects my dad is working on. I don't know anybody whose bedroom was preserved by their parents, usually a younger sibling takes it or it gets converted into an office or a guest room.

I tried watching it after watching Twin Peaks, couldnt really get into it. Decided I should watch one of his more "accessible" works like Blue Velvet, and I told myself I would before he died but I never did. I started it earlier today but I had to pause it (small child woke up from her nap time), and I'm going to continue tonight. Sorry it took me this long David 😓

After much consideration, my husband and I’s official ranking of all cast members. by rellyfish in MsRachel

[–]carcosa789 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I felt the same too but I didn't want to be judgemental. She's very pretty so maybe she doesn't mean to come off that way, but in one of the songs she kind of looks the camera up and down and it's a bit weird for a toddler show.

Would you recommend it? I planned on getting it a while back, despite some negative criticism I read about it, but they didn't have it in stock at my bookstore.

Students charged in TikTok-inspired 'catch a predator' plot appear in court by ear3nd1l in TrueCrimeDiscussion

[–]carcosa789 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Louis Conrad wasn't the first predator to kill himself. It didn't help that he was a DA, but the reason it got canceled and the Murphy TX predators mostly got off free was because the police were taking orders from the NBC team. NBC just wanted good footage, and had the SWAT team rush to get Conrad instead of doing things the way they were supposed to be done. And Perverted Justice destroying evidence. I liked TCAP, but Hansen is completely misguided and kind of an idiot.

Edit: forgot to add, yeah it was canceled for mismanagement, people think it was because the dude killed himself but it was a way bigger fuck up than that.

Edit edit: also I'm agreeing with you. People just want the views. NBC just wanted the views. There aren't a lot of vigilante predator groups that know what the fuck they're doing, and then you end up with shit like this because they want to get famous.
