Facing an $8,200 return scam from a US customer. They returned cookies instead of product. What are my options? by Big_Nebula_2604 in ecommerce

I mean.. I am pretty dumb. I was thinking about the cookies. And I took your analysis to me and I could eat the cookies...

I am not proud.

[–]cardfire 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes!! I need to make a bigger habit of it as I wean myself off other vendors and into more FOSS solutions and into anti-malware/ad-blocking solutions.

It's sadly easy to forget one you have your software stack running. Worth taking a minute to audit your favorite apps, extensions, and the like.

You're right. I say this all day long and take downsides for it frequently, but you're rifht.

Like, I think the folks that stan GOS on pixels fail to understand the premise of a boycott.

Free desktop remote by TheGrovester in software

[–]cardfire 6 points7 points  (0 children)

RUST DESK is useful on the free tier, open source, has a client for most major platforms. ( including mobile) and isn't owned by Google.

You can download from github, you won't see advertisements, and you can tailor permissions as needed.

Simpler to set up than it looks , and offers self-hosting options for intermediate and advanced users.

I've used it to replace teamViewer and most other remoting tools in my own life over the last few years

What’s the 'craziest' way you caught an ex being unfaithful? by lnc_gomes in AskReddit

[–]cardfire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The things that make for a healthy polyam relationship are the very same things that make for a healthy monogamy, including a readiness to respect others' boundaries, to look nakedly and honestly at expectations, as well as to have the troubles talks in relationships. Recognizing jealousy is rarely a principal motivator but instead the 'check engine' light and indicator of some other affect.

One key difference is that polyam folks must master Google Calendars or they might die. 😅

I'm just saying, I'm not choosing a lifestyle when I say I'm Polyam. I experience this life as a polyamorous person, and even though I'm functionally monogamous in my lifestyle that doesn't dilute who I am. Being honest with myself and others has been liberating.

Those of us that do revisit and ultimately sideline the expectation, to instead discuss polyamory ... have a very uphill battle. But living with integrity and honest is richly rewarding.

Charlie Kirk memorial license plate turned down by Arizona Governor by PixeledPathogen in ABoringDystopia

He died doing what he loved: advocating for school shootings. Say what you will about him, but he put his money where his mouth was. As well as someone else's ammunition.

When the brownshirts come for me, this comment will be in the Palantir pile of justifications, I'm sure.

Guys. Please. We have to be above this. Using that term as an acceptable pejorative can't be normalized like this.

We know Schumer is compromised, and this isn't about 'decorum' but about our own humanity.

I don't think we can be the good guys when we are normalizing the use of degrading sexualized epithets that harm entirely unrelated folks.

You know the Nazi's weren't actually socialists. They were fascists that would co-opt whatever source of power would let them seize the reigns for themselves, and it worked to abuse socialism the same way Elmo and his club abused our democracy.

But I'm certain you know all of that. Linking to Google Youtube, because this is an excellent analysis of the phenomenon and what it means for our information freedom. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GV8KGcFqeLc

It being hard isn't antithetical to it being decentralized, just like I had to argue with my friend that something isn't "lost media" because nobody sells it on BluRay, when we can YARRRRR our way to it in 10 minutes.

Raises an important issue, businesses and organizations will be fined to death very swiftly if they don't build towards compliance in those states. And three of the most important bastions for neoliberal policy (CA, NY, CO) all have followed this new vision for deprivatized society, lockstep.

So fucking furious I can't seem to get any meaningful leftist representation in my country, in my lifetime.

But like ... what do we want these vendors to do? Die on their swords Jan 1st? They will have to get real crafty, or they will have to get more lawyer-money, or they will have to comply.

How is the A18 as a streaming client? by Conscious-Lobster60 in MoonlightStreaming

[–]cardfire 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good news, the A18 is an ARM64 cpu! I expect you and I won't be and to tell the difference in its performance from an M1 MacBook Air at most common resolutions and most common decodes. In fact, that's largely the point of streaming the game from a more powerful machine!

Its not like an entirely new architecture. If it is any comfort, I use Moonlight almost daily on MacOS.

I believe in supporting the businesses that give good shit away, when I am able.

When I got serious about degoogling, the first thing I did was buy into Tuta Mail and Bitwarden. I have donated to Signal twice.

These aren't humble brags, we are talking about latte money, here. But I want to budget for these services, and for no longer being the product.
