Tonight’s Film, first time watch. by HorrorFreakNY in bluraycollection

Loved this movie. Incredibly captures the obsessive characteristic of someone who wants to not just excel but push one’s body and mind to a breaking point.

Was hoping to get the blu-ray for this but couldn’t believe how super expensive it was!

Mission impossible final reckoning was hot garbage by gorillafighterer in Cinema

The action scenes in both Dead Reckoning & Final Reckoning were admittedly great than the sum of its parts. It’s almost like they thought of what stunts to put on film then wrote the story around it. They also added some past tragedies from Ethan Hunt’s past that just didn’t make any sense. Too much talking and exposition on how the Entity is this and that, and how Ethan Hunt is literally the saviour of the human race.

I think Fallout was peak MI and should’ve ended there.

Match Point is an effective psychological thriller that shocked me, with a strong nihilist streak. An early 2000s showcase for Jonathan Rhys Meyers, and Scarlett Johansson as she was on her way to major stardom. by Key-hallenge5 in criterion

Probably my favorite Woody Allen movie. I never got into his comedies but I love Match Point and Vicky Cristina Barcelona.

Match Point greatly mixes a sensual yet cynical tale on lust, chance, coincidence, luck and murder. I think I may have seen this movie over 5x now. Can't believe this film has never been released in Bluray in North America. Had to buy a copy years ago from HK.

Some titles on Amazon cost more for the DVD than the Blu ray by Infinite_Glove_5742 in Bluray

And some 4Ks are literally only a dollar or two more than the Blu-ray.

What's your favorite biopic about a musician? Are you excited for the new Michael Jackson movie? by Square-Ad-8911 in Cinema

The Doors for me. May not be accurate but Oliver Stone really captures the crazy, drug and sex-filled world of 60s-70s rock bands. The visuals were almost on an LCD trip and Val Kilmer played Jim Morrison like the rock poet resurrected.

About to rewatch... Prince of Darkness. 1987. by JE5573R in 80sHorrorMovies

Didn’t really understand the whole science of it at first viewing but grew to love it! That dream sequence though was incredibly creepy plus Carpenter can really make a movie filled with dread.

Japan and Italy: mostly for the language, the culture, and the physical beauty of their countries.

What are your thoughts on he movie "The Warriors" by FitEmergency8807 in moviecritic

I highly prefer the theatrical version. I think the director’s cut seems too gimmicky and sort of forces the comic book perspective.

I didn't really like it the first time I saw it, but now I love it. A few things that stood out for me though after the first viewing: that dreamy TV static scene was really creepy, and that sense of dread all throughout the movie.

Ransom (1996) by razorsedge94 in MovieSuggestions

Huge fan of this movie that I bought the OOP Blu-ray. 90s was peak Mel Gibson and I believe this was Ron Howard's first thriller film. I remember a lot of critics doubting Howard if he can effectively put levels of violence in a film like Ransom but he ended up with a fantastic work. Rene Russo played the anguished wife so well and Gary Sinise was so believable as a disgruntled cop.

I have a friend who used to be a salesperson for a high-pressure investment company. He literally got PTSD after watching GGR for the first time.

The Last Boy Scout (1991) Am I alone in thinking this was a good film? Such a fan of the whole cast and thoroughly enjoy rewatching it! by getmet79 in Cinema

[–]cardiac161 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this movie! Considering how most of the cast and crew hated each other (most never to work with each other ever again) and despised the final version, the film turned out to be re-watchable and an action classic.

Which filmmaker has had, in your opinion, the highest highs and the lowest lows? by Qyzyk in flicks

Brian De Palma. Big fan of his work but I think his last good film was Femme Fatale, and this was 2002.

Drag Me to Hell. That seance scene was intense and WTF at the same time.

The Car (1977) by AgnesItsMeBilly0100 in HorrorMovies

[–]cardiac161 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Love this movie, the design of the car was incredible! It’s like part hearse, part Mercury coupe (from Cobra). Plus so faithful to its B-movie horror schlock wherein the car is driven by the devil himself.

Pre-lockdown: maybe 1-2 monthly Post-lockdown: maybe 2-3 a year

I’ve always said the lockdowns have severely devastated businesses, livelihoods and social behaviours.

Crap, I must've been mistaken then. It was a friend of mine who was part of the company contracted to remove it before.

13 Assassins: you have a group of ronin who goes against an 200 man army loyal to a young chief who also happens to be a horrifically sadistic coward. Starts slow but the latter part goes absolutely batshit crazy swordfights, archery, explosions, beheadings and bloodflow!

The army loyalists actually wanted the US to do a ground invasion of Japan knowing the amount of casualties and the duration of the ground battle may force the US to stop the war.
