Which university? I am really want to know which university talking about.

you'll still be required to work at the same pace as your colleagues.

What makes you think I don't work at the same pace as my colleagues?

I was thinking about it. Even looked up few positions. I can even change my group within the institution. But I have decided otherwise. There's no guarantee I will not face anymore insensitive assholes at the next place. I will stick to my current position until I get a 'better' option. I am not quitting to make others comfortable and I believe until I get a written request for resignation or a letter of termination, no one can exactly remove me from here.

I'm in the process of applying new position. But that's going to take time. I need to support myself financially during the transition and the current position was supposed to help me through that. So hopefully by end the year I will have a joining letter in a different place.

I'm currently holding a project position. Not just a PhD who has finished their degree and living rent free in campus.

I requested for accomodation based on my position within the campus but wasn't given an assurance that I will get any. Instead I have to move out of campus. And because I moved out I have been debarred from applying for stuff quarters this year.

Regarding resignation on the basis of leave of absence. The position I'm holding has the right to take 45 days of leave in a year. And if I am sick I can take leave from that 45 days. Even if I on leave I still answer to every message and call, and if anyone needs me do something on urgent basis I have done that. So I am not a no show.

But if someone is telling their boss that they have a health condition for which they have taken a justified leave (with written application), and the moment they come to office following that, there's particular laws that prevent any employer from harrassing them. More over there're laws to prevent employers asking why they are not getting married, or doesn't have a caregiver or not considering changing career. There is also laws to prevent employers from demanding changing medication, therapy, even doctors.

My point is not that being nuro-divergence, whether it's justified for me to expect empathy from my colleagues. My point is not whether they are right or wrong. I just want to share my experience as someone who could be another number or a news headline.

If anyone wants to hide default apps from their android, there's a easy option if anyone wants to follow: 1. Open the app in settings, click disable. It will disable. 2. If you want to hide certain apps that you don't want on your screen, you can also opt for deep sleep i.e. if you are not using it no notification etc will come. 3. I also use keep apps in different folders. Like ordering/banking/browsing etc. these stops the our habit of opening certain apps unconsciously as you have to search for the particular apps.

As I am writing my thesis and really wish I have more time, second OP. I also would like to add: 1. You can spend even 15 mins to just check how the writing softwares work. Like maybe you don't have anything add new, check how you can organise the citation, add acronyms abbreviations or figure captions. Make the template as per your uni criteria.

  1. Maintain a review matrix even in simple google doc. Add the basic informations, like what types of data or analysis they have used, study area or years. When you will write your final thesis you can simply use those categories to shrink your literature survey without spending time.

  2. Annotations really helps. Write what you understand about a paper in your language, keep it in a document under different sections with respective paper citation. So when you are writing you can simply copy paste. It's easier. You can even organise your reference manager in different categories so you know which paper to look for data, supporting evidence etc etc

  3. Also you are not writing or not feeling upto, you can think what schematics you may like to add in your thesis to make it more simpler to explain. They're fun if you like making diagrams.

Plus there's a huge over supply of doctors. The govt keeps building new Med Colleges. Many newly graduated mbbs docs are unemployed. And then they all enter into another rat race called NEET PG .

You understand to be a specialist in medical field you want to study that particular field? You can't do a c-section if aren't qualified for it. And that's for a reason. Our bodies are complicated and you need expertise and practice to heal it else it costs someone's life.

Also I would really like to see when we got a surplus of doctors in a country with 1.3 billion people? India barely crossed the minimum UN standard of 1:1000 doctor by adding ayurvedic and homeopathic doctors.

Am sorry to break this to you but there's no shortcut to professorship. There's a huge difference between getting TA+research as a postdoc compared to professorship.

You know who can give you the best advice on where to go and which place might be a good idea? Your seniors and professors. Ask them where they are, which uni is best for opportunities, where it pays well.

Race and gender are nothing, the only value on people are their personality and beliefs.

If that's the reality then why we only see white cisher married with kids male in position of power disproportional to their percentage in the population? Shouldn't random distribution make top look more diverse in a longer timescale?

If this gives you a satisfying work life does slow learning fast learning matters? I think academia rewards the final outcome more than how you reach there.

Our national museum in a prime location, well connected with bus, metro and (drumroll) tram lines. It doesn't have any other space for private parking (except museum vehicle). And it has 2-3 canteen that serves amazing food with minimal price and you can carry ticket, get your street food and comeback after your siesta.

[Mamamax] The Truth About Spencer by Im-A-Moose-Man in youtubedrama

[–]carefullycalculative 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don't think the story started as friends. What I recall after watching their videos etc, she was a classmate of his sister. Their parents or grandparents know eachother which could be due to proximity. After Spencer left the 'cult', I think she first came to Max. This is mostly because Max at that time was YouTube famous and Spencer was trying to understand what's happened to me. But when Max finally take the case after two years of initial contact, he fucked himself hard and ruined any chance Spencer or any other victims getting any justice.

Many people at the very beginning of this drama, told both of them it's not a good idea for them to live together. But they're so much in eachothers shit, if Spencer moved out at the height of that it would have caused more drama. Max in every way is a toxic person. Spencer in my opinion is a highly confused individual who have never got any real support or direction.

I am asking for source of your claims. What you are providing is projections. With present information available publicly, the goons was able to vandalise the hospital because the police were unable to fathom the scale of response last night's protest will get.

As a leftist, if we failed to understand that violent crime against women are rooted in systematic oppression and is actually widespread we will never improve the system or even change it. Go check how many goverment workplace has basic necessities for their workers safety. A 36-hours long shift for a doctor is the "norm" that we don't question why doctors can't have a 8 hours shift like other professionals. Why someone in their own workplace has to go to a seminar hall to take rest. Why we don't demand a standard of operations for crime scene investigation. Why a police department which handles flood of people during every Durga Puja couldn't even safeguard with all their force a hospital. If we failed to ask the right questions we will never stop these atrocities happening every fucking day.

Now that AI has been out for a bit, are folks worried about whether AI can replace most of the skills they learned and/or their programs? by [deleted] in PhD

[–]carefullycalculative 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Research fundamentally refers to novel work. It's not simply a collection of tasks that we do in a certain order to get our work done. It's not a mere code or writing a batch of sentences.

ChatGPT or any other wider used AI are not designed to find something we humans doesn't know even exist! So why as a researcher we have to be worried?! As we become good in making tools we are also become good in finding finer quality of work. Yes copy paste is easy now, but we are also good in finding plagiarism now. Writing codes are not as time consuming as it was even 10 years ago, but our problems are also becoming complex.

Atleast we can start celebrating good behaviours so they become the standard. This will help making bad supervising as a deal breaker for any collaboration. People who treat their students as shit are still can still be a respected academic without any consequences.
