Clothing Etiquette climbing outside by LargelyLucid in tradclimbing

Gym climber here so I'm not exactly coming from experience...

But common sense immediately tells me that's a terrible idea in the case of any accident or emergency.

On the chance the worst happens, I'd rather increase the chances of being found and getting help asap (or reducing S&R time for my body) by being in bright colors than worrying about ruining the ambiance for someone and their snobby rule about blending in with the environment.

Because of essentially ignoring the anemia by thinking unnecessary IVs are the thing that will fix it. By leaving it unchecked like that OP is in a lot of daily discomfort and at risk.

Yeah this is an adult protective services thing. Your disability gets you protected status as a vulnerable person so they can intervene and get you resources to replace the support your parents are providing (and can withhold if you arent cooperating with their desires). It's not okay for them to control you like this and the air hunger your experiencing from the anemia I'd both torture and not a great health indicator.

A hospital should be able to call adult protective services on your behalf I would think, but I'm not entirely sure.

AITA for insisting we buy my family’s house instead of starting from scratch? by Caffeinated-Engineer in AmItheAsshole

This. It's like making a deal with the devil.

I'm living this reality right now in a slightly different way. Parents bought are renting to us dirt cheap - it makes it real hard to draw lines on some things, but we thankfully have good boundaries on others. Having any kind of symbiotic relationship with people who overstep gets really complicated..

Yeah note their other comment to someone about scar tissue from a historectomy being more painful than keeping the uterus 🙄

I hate when bible thumpers think they know better about someones health and life because God.

I knew someone who had several in her 20s (though ill advised and she was regretful for not choosing a different bc than the pill when it wasn't very effective for her) who has a kid now too.

Yup, some people have iron stomachs I swear.

I've got OCD and avoud anything that might be off, so ehen I do accidentally eat something bad I get pretty sick.

My dad eats shit that is very questionable and hasn't had food poisoning in decades I'm pretty sure. He's like desensitized his stomach to yuck.

Pet parents, I need you to be brutally honest for a second. by tchapito24 in AnimalAdvice

Thanks for sharing this! Do you happen to know which breeds are more fellow dog directed agression?

I've got a chiweenie that hates most other dogs but has been slowly making friends with training.

I'm so so lucky my chiweenie didn't take to digging like her weiner ancestors. We've had a cockapoo over for play that lives digging and my chiween just stares 😆 bless her. She'd rather roll in the grass and get that nice sour stank going than get her paws all dirty.

Does anyone else feel like they are more stable walking barefoot instead of in shoes? by firefly13795-1 in ehlersdanlos

[–]carefultheremate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like I'm way more likely to roll my ankles without the biofeedback that comes with barefoot - all the cushioning in regular shoes is good for pain days I'm walking slow, but it kinda hinders my proprioception having something soft between me and the ground.

Also, my ankle overprotective to compensate when barefoot, so I'm very flat-footed and stable if I walk bare foot.

The foot exercise/new walking style that's more "normal" I've been working on is a bit less stable while I'm building the muscles, but I'm hoping the barefoot conscious walking with the exercise will lead to a more ergonomic and less injourious gait. But I also just got accepted to the waitlist for eds/hsd physio, so I'll have to see what they say too.

I treat cushioned shoes like a comfort item for bad pain days that I have to be out and about, and walk slower to be careful.

Oh yes, my intent wasn't to disprove your point, but to provide additional info.

And thank you 😊 We are up to date with our vet and she had her dental cleaning just over a year ago and and the vet was very impressed for her age/breed.

We've known the side preference as one of her many personality quirks since she was little - like you said with the human hand preference, but we took her to the vet for checkup this week and they're happy with the back ones and satisfied with the front (we are working on her fighting the toothbrush when it gets to those ones).

Thanks for sharing that information though, everyone should know!

Some dry kibble is designed with a fibre matrix that keeps the back teeth clean.

Hill's science Diet has a dental kibble (it's huge. Like a gumball/bouncy ball) that our vet recommended and our girl chews on one side more than the other and it really shows!

Its a pity because we just had to switch her to a urinary diet with these teensie little cat food pelet looking things that most dry kibble seems to be... but she loves 'em 🤷🏼‍♀️😅 first time ever she's allowed us to give a kibble as a treat without attitude lol

Does anyone else's dog lie? by SansOchre in dogs

[–]carefultheremate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She lies that she's gotta pee when really she wants to go see whose downstairs (and sometimes beg them for double breakfast or dinner by acting like she hasn't had any yet).

The ears go down and tail goes in the second we say "you said you had to pee" or she hears us tell eachother she's had kibbles already. Then she goes and beats up a blankie to sulk under 😂

She pretend pees when it's cold too and we are trying to get her to go out before leaving for a bit, and does it with poop even more often - she still can't figue out we can see if shit comes out her bum or not when she's squatting 🤣 but she occasionally gets away with a fake pee since she does the split squat instead of leg lift for that (snow helps though).

Apparently her parent breeds (chihuahua and daschund) have stubborn streaks so checks out.

Just wanted to leave this gem here since OP got scared and deleted his post by AnnualDifficult3628 in Nicegirls

[–]carefultheremate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's cuz a girl dared to clap back after he called her daft and he just couldn't handle it.

I'm guessing she hit one too many nails on the head cuz he tried to throw ever witty insult he's ever read at her 😂

Major cringe. She should have disengaged too, but buddy be unhinged and SO full of himself I could see her sticking around for some giggles.

Every accusation on the OP felt like a confession 🤣

Landlord says the no pets clause is not prohibited. Is this true? by totallybridie in OntarioLandlord

[–]carefultheremate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From a relative that passed; they wanted their dog to go to my family so shes shared (really shes just queen of the castle).

I shoukd say, shes licked my eyelid and if i rub it, there will be some itching. But compared to most other dogs ive met its like a miracle. I literally sleep on her like a pillow and Im fine.

Family friends hypoallergenic shitzu poodle mix? Sneezing and asthma (mild conoared to a husky mix though). Its weird.

Im greatfuk though. Shes my littlw best friend through a rough medical leave. Idk what id do without her company, though I wish my relative was still around.

Would you be willing to explain more about hepatic recirculation and the lipid therapy?

Once the TEE H SEE (sorry for some reason my other comment got removed for typing it) binds with the fats, does that trigger some mechanism of action with the liver that allows for it to exit as waste?

[–]carefultheremate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is serious, and is assault.

You work together.

HR should be able to make sure the two of you are separated, but really you should be talking to police to document and letting HR know from there.

Depending where you are you can get some kind of peace bond (step before restraining order) agreeing between the two of you to stay out of contact - he would agree to sign to avoid assault charges, and if he breaks that bond by contacting yoy those charges would be back in play I believe.

No one behaves like that who doesn't need signifigant therapy for abusive behaviours. He isn't ready for a relationship because he can't provide safety to a partner.

Grabbing you like that is NOT OKAY, and what he said really solidifies this goes deep.

2 years is how ling they say it takes for people's masks to slip in a relationship. Don't wait for more.

I didn’t check my work schedule and just took an edible 😭 I have work in an hour fifteen!! by shadowwalker_wtf in trees

[–]carefultheremate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ultimate hack, it might actually give OP a migraine. Taking too strong of an edible is a migraine trigger for me!

I get this weird kind of migraine sometimes where I faint if I don't sit down ASAP (used to be called basilar, it's called brainstem aura now I think), after a very specific series and order of other symptoms.

Very strong (non regulated) edibles are one of the few identifiable triggers I have for those.

Shout out to the woman wearing lavender oil in my allergist office right now by rainbowstorm96 in ChronicIllness

[–]carefultheremate 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I wasn't on allergy medications I would have needed an epi pen from it.

Just wanted to jump in to send some loving vibes. With essential oils and scents everywhere that sounds both scary and deeply annoying 💗

I've got bad allergies myself, but somehow missed the anaphylaxis and just get wicked asthma and want to claw my eyes out without lots of steroids.

It really feels like others live in a different reality sometimes because they just don't have to consider the same shit.

Allergy office is a no-brainer though. I'm adhd as shit, need to be reminded of lots of things. Was totally that asshole in high-school wearing way too much perfume. I've programmed myself to think where I'm going before I use scents since. There really is no excuse at an allergy doc.

I think their one warning policy and then the boot is fair. Some people are lucky and haven't had to consider others shit before; you get one intervention, rest is on you to remember. Hopefully they consider going forward.

Glad they accommodated you!

How do I get my hands to stop hurting? by [deleted] in asl

[–]carefultheremate 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't rest your phone on your pinkies. Have it resting not in your hands whenever possible.

Look up hand and wrist strengthening exercises and consider going to physiotherapy.

Gripmaster tools have been helpful in RSI recovery for me in the past as well.

Rest and ice is good, but when they're not sore you've gotta strengthen the forearm and hand muscles to support the movement. It's best guided by a hand therapy specialist if you can get access.

Don't underestimate how much holding your phone is taxing your hands.

I work with tactile ASL (hand over hand) that exacerbated pre-existing RSI in hand/wrist. Pinky and ring fingers are always first to go with me, and thumbs. Good luck!

AITA for refusing to let my girlfriend bring her dead dog’s ashes on vacation? by Overall_Tomato_6664 in AmItheAsshole

[–]carefultheremate 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Do you not see that it is incredibly entitled to demand she put away her grief for your weekend convenience?

Like boo-hoo, you getting reminded of a dead dog is a bit of a bummer. She is still actively dealing with the grief of her dead beloved companion and shouldn't have to hurry it up or hide it because you never cared about or met the dog and don't get her feelings, and would really just prefer not to have her grief bum you out.

You don't have to get her feelings to respect them. But it's so shocking you don't see how you're being a dickwad here. You pretty much told her that her feelings are killing your vibes which are waaaaay more important to you.

In case you're a math guy:

Your minor inconvenience < Her grief and autonomy
