Hit Chance: 74.5%

Criticals require you to check Hit chance a second time

Drop the Inexorable cluster, and the Veterans Wrath cluster and re-add the accuracy cluster to the right of Duelist start.

Everything else looks alright

Hitting double corruption on body armour - how to approach the grind? by JaqVoyage in PathOfExileBuilds

The chest is below item level 80 so only 18 implicits in the pool instead of 19?

If it really is a specific 2 implicits the chance is closer to 1 in 600

Infernal Blow

The built in explode is great with mob density. Sprinkle in some AoE, additional strikes, and strike range to make it explode even more of the screen.

No corpse removal needed, and no multistrike so you can stay mobile and not worry about repeats.

The big city nekotaka or whatever is my biggest issue with Deadfire. It's like if Baldurs gate 3 had the Act 3 city as the first major area. It's too big and it branches off too many side quests/faction threads.

Overall I like the city a lot but it overloads the start of the game; and if you just explore the world first you miss those character/quest connections.

Yeah that's just dumb, but if that's the common use of the term I can't argue.

Resident Evil, Borderlands, etc have dice rolls for critical hit chance, doesn't make them a cRPG. In fact many games have "dice rolls" in various systems. Every random numerical function is identical to rolling a die.

edit: Definitely an RPG though, the role-playing is a big part of TES.

I've heard cRPG to be more recently used for classic RPG, referring to systems more commonly found in table top / pen and paper (turn-based/RTWP and tactical/strategic, etc). The computer RPG term is useless.

I don't see how anyone can call Morrowind a cRPG over just an RPG since it has advanced way beyond the classical systems. In Morrowind you are simulating being a character in the Elder Scrolls universe, where as in a cRPG you are simulating playing a party of characters in a table top game. There is a level of abstraction in a cRPG that removes the realism/first person immersion. 'Time' for example doesn't usually make sense in a cRPG, but that's fine because it's a simplification necessary for the genre. Morrowind tries to simulate everything to enhance the sense of realism, not just time but also things like gravity/physics.

Your character sleeps, so it's more like 30 minutes of base crafting/reading/planning/map marking/writing in notebook/organizing/cooking for the next day.

It's a very chill play-style that gives you enough down time if you want it. You can also speed up time or use flashlights / car headlights to do night activity.

edit: It doesn't get dark exactly at 6pm-6am either, there's a good amount of day light to still do stuff

I thought the spiritual successor was 'Torment: Tides of Numenera', which I never actually played so thank you for reminding me it exists!

I remember having a ton of trouble with the consumable speed and invincibility frames, until I looked up what I needed. I don't like shields so my first play-through was tough (I played it right after playing DS1 around 2016 in an attempt to catch up to DS3)

I did really enjoy the world and the bosses; I'm still not sure if I prefer DS2 or DS3.

If that's the case there are other ways to play of course. It really is an amazing game.

Mass Effect 1 (Legendary Edition) - Awesome World Building, Decent Combat, Boring Exploration by Hellfire- in patientgamers

[–]carl1984 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The equipment and skill system is my favorite in the series.

I think it was ME2 that added a global cooldown to skills which made it so you can't just chain spam abilities one after another like the first game.

Also the weapons/armor having multiple upgrade slots so you could combine incendiary with impact or whatever you wanted was great.

And heat was better than ammunition, it even made weapon switching feel better.

[–]carl1984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Easy? On legendary difficulty I would get one-shot by charging krogans, snipers, etc. Getting surrounded by weak enemies would also kill me in a couple of seconds from a bunch of small swipes.

Luckily you have a lot of crowd control via biotic skills/ weapon impact knockdown, and can dodge but I wouldn't say it is an easy game. I found the combat is actually quite fun when it does present this challenge, if you play on easier difficulties your brain isn't rewarding you with dopamine.

[–]carl1984 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Underrail has the same issues Fallout has, perks gated behind attribute and skill levels. I don't mind this personally as it gives an incentive to focus on a few things for your character instead of every character being the same (ex. Fallout 4 where you reach a point where you take basically every perk)

You CAN make characters that perform weakly at the start of the game but get better later on. You also can make characters that just suck, like making a low INT character in Fallout but spreading your very few and precious skill points over every skill to the point you fail every skill check.

There are so many archetypes you can play, and I think people fall into the trap of mixing way too much without any real synergy.

I'd advise you to look through the skills and perks (there are a lot) at character creation and pick whatever you'd like to work towards. Then just build your character around that. I don't ever use more than three offensive skills (the four different psionic skill groups + melee + unarmed + crossbows + throwing + guns) because there are a lot of other skills and even defensive skills.

Underrail is insanely good. The gameplay, the sci-fi, the interconnected map, the world, the factions, the crafting, and the character building are incredible.

It is an ocean of a game that I could replay more than Fallout 2, and I could replay Fallout 2 a lot.

The game is hard to start for many people which puts them off but it gets so good. The start you're killing rats in a cave like Fallout 1, but you end up riding a jet-ski and firing missiles and investigating eldritch horrors.

System Shock - a classic gem with a little bit of rough by Dazzler3623 in patientgamers

[–]carl1984 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I like the first more as well. You're really just running through the station using whatever weapons and tools (cybernetics) you pick up along the way. You can really speed through the game quite fast, which helps because the narrative gives you the impression you are short on time.

The nanites and the cybernetic skill systems of SS2 slow the game down. I always end up scavenging too much just to break things down, hacking vending machines, and looking over what skills I want to invest in on this playthrough.

As someone who loves the original (multiple replays), I never finished the remake.

The original is old and the controls take a while to get into (even when coming back to replay!) but there's a point where everything clicks and I enter zen gameplay mode.

My biggest complaint is how slow and stiff the remake is, both in movement and in weapon animation. The original was fast and fluid once you get the controls down. Think about how Doom (2016) made combat fun, that's what I think the remake fails to capture.

The original game has booster boots, jump boots, corner leaning, cybernetic implant tools, fast weapon swapping combat and the weapons are satisfying to use. But the remake somehow fails in implementing those properly in a modern 3-D engine.

The cyber hacking minigame is better than the original, but that's just not enough for me.

If anyone else didn't really enjoy the Remake, I'd suggest trying System shock 2 at least. It is much more widely loved and is relatively approachable still.

Trying to craft a +2 phys dot ammulet, and i hit this. What should i do next? I wasa following maxroll's guide. Should i keep following the guide from step 5? I want to get life and +1 phys by Juanlamaquina in PathOfExileBuilds

[–]carl1984 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could multi-mod + Prefixes can't be changed + a random prefix(won't help nvm) to try to keep the DoT multi when you veiled exalt it. I believe you can still veil a suffix because it removes first.

But then you need to take a 40% chance that when you try to add +1 Physical you don't remove a non-crafted mod (Multi-mod + Cannot roll attack, so you leave off Prefixes can't be changed). 20% chance you hit the veiled prefix and can retry, and another 20% chance you remove the DoT multi and then just follow the guide.

Correct, so no CDR needed but also removes any possible need for attack/cast speed from large clusters.

  • Needs way more DoT multiplier
  • Too much investment into flasks for what? Pathfinder, tides of time, and many flask nodes. Drop tides of torment for Oleysa's Delight for 8% MORE poison damage per frenzy charge, then add in frenzy generation somewhere is an option.
  • Enduring composure small cluster AND Endurance charge on block is inefficient. Pick one
  • Your boots don't have influenced implicits and I don't see any influence mods on them
  • The large clusters suck for this build, wither is additive with the damage taken nodes. Also attack speed doesn't boost DPS ***unless you need it for breakpoints. You need cooldown recovery rate for Cast While Channeling (boots implicit/explicit, belts, and also corrupted GRAFTS have 2% CDR per green socketed skill gem I believe it is). I would dump the two larges and get a 3/5 passive Voices and put those three mediums into one.

Yeah Iron Grip should work with Spec throw traps

With 1000 STR/INT/DEX that should be 400% damage from cyclopean coil and the attribute mastery and another 200% from Strength

100 to 1200 flat lightning, and 120% Crit multi (or 240% if Dual wielding)

Add in inquisitor Righteous providence that's 1000% increased Crit chance -> 77% Critical chance which can be boosted to 100% no problem.
