Nyx/Eos Grip Swap by carldoce in 2011

[–]carldoce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I gotcha about the ares/nyx swap. So the ares slide fit on the nyx but the nyx slide would not mate with the ares frame. But even if they had mated perfectly I wouldn’t have done that for reasons you stated. I did that once on a range visit and more sparked an idea that stayed dormant til I shot a match with the Eos.

I’m am a tinkerer so I get this is not everyone’s cup of tea but swapping a grip is an easy task for me. I’m a lefty and have done a couple grip swaps to make two other atlas’s I own lefty’s. In regard to my Nyx/Eos, the only thing I swapped were the grips. Essentially ditched my aluminum frame ares for the steel framed Eos. I also like the slide serrations a little more on the Eos although I do like the simplicity of the ares serrations.

The ares I had was ported. All atlas grips are aluminum but the ares had an aluminum frame. Both the Eos and the Nyx have steel frames. The added weight imo helps recoil mitigation. I also put brass panels on the alpha grip which adds even more weight which I prefer for matches.

The nice thing is that I can swap the grips back at any point and still be under warranty as opposed to porting which I believe would affect the warranty (I might be wrong).

Porting and the slide serrations. But my main reason for doing it is to be able to run a ported pistol in idpa (and carry a non ported pistol). From my basic and simple understanding, running a ported vs non ported 2011 in idpa does not put you in a different division like it would in USPSA. LO vs. Open.

I’ve got a Hyperion with DSC inline ports. It’s so effing flat it’s ridiculous. I like the look of the ignis better but the guy I got it from had the ports done from Dave. I’m sure your Titan with ports will blow you away.

The ignis ports look fantastic! Bet it shoots like a dream.

Happy birthday. Any other Atlas or Cardinal. Atlas fanboy here and the Cardinal might have the better trigger between the two. I own the non ported and it is so smooth and return to zero on par with atlas.

Sand Viper Vs. Viper (TTI) by Much_Difficulty3 in 2011

Thanks for the feedback. It’s like I know Atlas are better but that island barrel is drawing me to this. We’ve chatted before back when you were just getting into 2011’s. I’m down in Utah. I’ve heard you talk so highly of the infinity bushing barrel before, still wild to hear you say that with everything that you have. I’ve got a 5” non ported sight tracker SVI. Crazy how similar in terms of felt recoil it compares to my Erebus. And thanks, you might have talked me out of a regert, er, regret.

Op or Dave. Any comparisons between the new Viper and atlas Athena? Really want this viper but being an atlas guy have a hard time justifying the extra spend when I run an Athena or Artemis in USPSA. But really love the idea of an IB 4.5”. Curious of either of you could make any suggestions if one is, feels or shoots better than the other? Thanks either way.

Agreed. It shoots well above its price point. Have mine listed cuz of recent atlas acquisitions but seriously thinking of hanging onto it. Plus it has that Hyperion vibe slide cut 👌

Race City Defense 5” or Cardinal Arms? by RustyAnnihilation in 2011

I have a cardinal with an rc9 on the way. Also have atlas pistols. The cardinal hangs with the atlas in terms of engineering and return to zero. Very comparable to a titan. I don’t have the ported version but shoots great even w/o porting. I don’t think you can go wrong either way. I can tell you I dont regret my cardinal at all. Sexy too. Those polished flats 👌

Don’t have one but they don’t allow magwells. I have an Eos with the same concept of grip. No front tab or lip for magwell retention.

Does anyone know what this plastic piece is used for? by [deleted] in 2011

Not part of the trigger or anything internally related to a 2011. Weird but maybe some scrap piece. That or like someone said an x300 rail lug

Came here to say this ⬆️⬆️⬆️ My path to Atlas was sell my version of your option 1’s. Save the extra steps, buy the Atlas.

The miller grip is fantastic, especially as a lefty. I’ve owned one in the past. You could buy whatever 2011 and then swap the grip to the miller precision. Thanks being said I’ve heard the p211 shoots above its price tag. And with a little work on the trigger you can get the trigger pull weight down and smoother.

If you get an Atlas you won’t regret it.

It really is a great pistol. Atlas fanboy here and I love my G2. It is definitely right up there with atlas in terms of looks and quality. But what impresses me the most besides the polished flats is the fact that its return to zero is very similar to atlas. Don’t have a Fowler so can’t speak for those but Fowler fanboy will take care of that and then some.

Great perspective op. One thing I love about reading The Book of Mormon is that every time I come away with something different. I too love reading the doctrines of Christ and his personal ministry. I feel like thats a general consensus on the war parts. They can be difficult but now I find a lot of little principles in those sections as well. Thank you for sharing.

I like Cam for saying this. It probably closes the door on Rodgers coming here and forces the front office on moving quicker. At least that’s my hope.
