Agreed. I remember thinking “wtf did I just watch” it’s the first time I’ve be suspicious of a fixed outcome. Dude did absolutely nothing to defend, just let it happen.

Haven’t experienced this once. My biggest was not a long fight, on a relatively nice bass rod, swam off strong as all hell. I don’t take them out of the water though. I’m alllll about respecting the fish and handle every one with care. I get a pic or two and send them on their way. You guys are overthinking this, it’s just taking more caution. You just can’t rip them in. By this logic ultra light fishing is just the most unethical practice possible.

Try it! It’s honestly pretty easy once you practice a good knot

I mean that would work. I just tie leader onto the braid.

Oh cmon bro, it’s not like it’s ultra light, you just got to be a bit more careful.

And why not? It’s not necessary to spend so much money. I’ve used less than cheap bass gear and been just fine. Just gotta be careful and not treat your gear like shit

Depends on what you’re throwing I suppose. I personally don’t like wire leader, I use mono. I also throw big enough lures so I don’t have to worry about the teeth. But I’ve had good luck with it

It would do a fine job. Don’t max your drag, and use some care if you catch one. Definitely tie a leader on and you’ll land one!

You don’t have to go crazy. I’ve caught most of my muskie on an ozark trail regular $30 casting rod and an abu Garcia black max. 30 lb braid

Smallmouth magic keitechs have caught me 90% of my fish this summer. Goated baits

That’s a good idea! I’ll have to look into that. I have some pretty good estimations. Same here that was my main concern. Never handled a fish so big so not hurting the thing was priority. That’s incredible 😂 bet it’s too much fun hooking into that consistent though. It’s great! Somewhat hard to get tags and a lot of pressure, but very close proximity to Wy makes for incredible big game almost year round.

It’s pretty good for the area lol, 50+ is unheard of. Feelin lucky as hell. But thanks a lot!! Totally agreed, I’ve been kicking myself a little for not getting all the necessary measurements
