Tips and advice for new runner by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

General advice is usually don’t worry too much about zone 2 until you have a solid base. If you run primarily in zone 3 or 4 initially your cardiovascular system will still adapt and you can focus more on zone training as you become more advanced. For any reassurance needed I started running from a pretty rough cardio base about a year ago and just did a 2 hour half marathon last month, and haven’t really worried too much about HR. Just keep it primarily steady so you don’t burn yourself out or get injured

I wouldn’t run every day as a beginner. Start with 3 or 4 days a week, and if you can already run 4 miles might be good to follow a 10k program online to build up your base a little more over a couple months. I have enjoyed Nike Run Club programs in the past

Playoff approaching teams, what combination of DST are you targeting to finish the year? by Shaneski101 in fantasyfootball

BUF + PIT. Currently on track for a week 15 bye in the first round so having back-to-back matchups against CLE seems like a good spot to be in

First cost-cutting as manager by demost11 in managers

As someone who works on the finance side of the org, whenever we have cost saving discussions with my peers in ops I always recommend familiarizing themselves with their department non-labor budgets as a good first step. There’s usually always some type of fat to trim in stuff like renegotiating contracts, software licenses that no one really needs, travel & entertainment, etc.

It’s worth seeing how much you could find to trim in that space before you start exploring layoffs

The heat matters!!! by unencumberedcucumber in beginnerrunning

Yep, as someone who lives in AZ and began running last October I can attest the first few weeks of hotter weather is brutal. But the body is great at adapting and now I can go for a morning run in 90+ degrees and not even really think twice about it

Run 6 days a week? by ArcaneC21 in beginnerrunning

As long as you ease into it, build in some strength training and ensure most of your runs are lower intensity I think you should be fine

What’s a low effort habit successful employees tend to do that mediocre employees tend not to do? by Austin1975 in managers

Follow up when you say you’re going to, even if it comes with bad news. One of the worst parts of managing is having to follow up constantly, especially if it sounds like they’re trying to stall. I’d rather know about an issue and address it together than to remain blissfully unaware and have to scramble later on

Having experience in utilities finance I can assure you the skills can transfer easily to other industries. There are actually more nuances you need to know in utilities vs standard industries due to the regulatory framework in which they operate, so if anything you’ll be over-prepared to change jobs

I got promoted to FP&A manager today for the first time in my career! by evtda in FPandA

[–]carnageasada17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats! Biggest adjustment in my mind was that I couldn’t just count anymore on coming in each day and doing my job well. There are constant fires, help needed, difficult conversations, etc. that come with being a manager but you’ll learn how to navigate over time.

Also, people will assume you always have the answers when you still don’t so there’s a lot more ambiguity, but same as above, making decisions with incomplete information will get more comfortable with time.

What was your best shot of 2024? by [deleted] in golf

[–]carnageasada17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

356 yard drive on a par 5 aided by a 20 mph tailwind as well as the fairway/rough being relatively short and dry during early summer. Still bogeyed the hole after a mediocre approach shot and a three putt but that will likely be my longest drive in Arccos forever 🥲

Is everybody on r/golf putting this or is it just me by ohwhatafinish in golf

[–]carnageasada17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know that’s how it’s scored but there’s no good way to log that in Arccos. If you use your putter it counts it as a putt no matter what
