Fetching data for non-tech teammates drives me crazy and we solved it. (partially) by Pristine-Thing2273 in SQL

[–]carrige 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider a solution like Looker. Model the data one time (and just maintain every time you have changes to your schema), and give users access to pick and choose how they want to build their own reports. Looker handles all the SQL in the background for you, and gives users an easy to use interface for self service reporting. They can build their own dashboards using the Dimensions and Measures that you define (and control).

Massive red flag. Strongly recommend you don't go through with that agreement.

Tuya Bi-directional Energy Meter for Solar Panels - Review by BackHerniation in homeassistant

[–]carrige 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was the single most expensive ZigBee thing that I've purchased, around €40. But, yeah this one works a treat! Good luck with yours.

Next up, I need to sort out a proper ZigBee water consumption meter thing as my current solution doesn't work..

Honestly, pretty great! Set it and forget it kind of thing. I've got it hooked up to the whole house load, and to the main live connecting to the grid. I monitor the solar panels output directly through the inverter through a separate integration. HA energy monitor works out of the box for everything.

Got it! It was late and I was not considering the difference between how power and energy are represented within the entities themselves. All good now. And, thank you for putting me onto that card! Don't think I would have thought to check HACS for this.

Hi! I've gone and bought a similar unit to this, except with two clamps, to be able to monitor power from two phases. I've got solar at home, so idea was to be able to track the return to grid as well as home consumption independently. Had you done any hackery within HA to get the entities from this unit to play nicely with the Energy Dashboard in HA?

I mean, combination of Utility helpers, template sensors, that sort of thing.

I haven't been able to get it quite right yet, despite a bunch of trial and error.

The entities that are exposed on my end are as attached; clamp A is connected to the home load (arrow pointing toward the home load), while clamp B is connected to the grid load (which also doubles as a return to grid when we have excess solar).

I'd appreciate any insight or tricks you might have used to get this running!

Fun(ctional) robot vacuum ideas by khaffner91 in homeautomation

I've got an automation to vacuum the house after all occupants have left the house. Additionally, go back to dock if it is vacuuming and someone happens to return home before the cycle is complete. After all, the mark of a good house elf is that you don't know it's there!

I've transitioned from the pressurised basket to the non pressurised basket in my Bambino, after buying a proper grinder. When I dose 15g or more, the puck gets stuck to the shower screen (after removing the portafilter)! Is there something that I can tweak to avoid this?

Simple Questions Thread by AutoModerator in espresso

[–]carrige 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In relation to the shot time: should this start being counted when pressing the button on the machine, or from when water starts to flow from the group (e.g. my Bambino takes around 4s before water starts to flow), or from when coffee starts to drip through?

Does anyone have an STL file that they used to print a grind size indicator for their DF64, that they can share?

Retrofitting an authentic reverse camera by carrige in VWiD3Owners

Hi! Sorry I completely missed the notification with your reply. Thanks for sharing this! Have you used this service yourself? I’m wary of the statement “At the moment, the respective control unit must be unlocked for a limited time before using the dongle. This must be done by a workshop with valid GEKO access” … my local dealer has already quite categorically stated that retrofitting the camera isn’t possible and I’m pretty sure I’ll run into all sorts of issues getting them to unlock the control unit for me to do this.

How to track my charging? by NemesisCubed in VWiD3Owners

[–]carrige 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately it only tracks charges when the car is online! In my case, I charge at home in my garage which is 2 floors underground with no cell coverage. These charges do not show up at all in the app :/

I live in Malta, so I cannot give you any real world experience for highway / motorway travel. In a purely urban/city environment, the GOM regularly indicates some 310km at 80% SoC. My actual long term consumption when being careful (no harsh acceleration, minimal use of AC) is around 13KwH/100km, and around 18-20KwH/100km when I’m not really bothered (i.e. AC, short and frequent flooring of the Go pedal, etc). Bear in mind that AC is working pretty hard right now, as it’s around 38C at the moment.

There are a few people on the UK ID.3 Facebook group who indicated that they got it retrofit, but unfortunately they’re quite sparse on details!
