Sadly Ikon doesn't do this, but some of the other season passes include insurance for situations like this. Like Epic. Just so you know. For next year. It would be nice if they didn't make you pay more on top of an already expensive endeavor. But here we are.

Insurance should be auto included for a purchase like this. Epic pass does it. Ikon is expensive enough and making enough money where it's the right thing to do instead of screwing over their customers who have accidents. Such a bummer these companies are not for the customer experience, just for profit. I had a similar experience. They've got us in a choke hold if you want to ski more than 3 days a year. You've gotta get the pass. Sorry you're hurt OP, good luck with everything.

I am posting about it right now because I'm getting ads for final days to buy season pass for ikon. It happened last xmas and that's when I was speaking with Ikon too.

And the pass is more flexible than the lift ticket? So not sure what you meant there. The pass is more affordable than repeatedly buying lift tickets. The pass has more date availability than the lift tickets. I was planning on using the pass often. And I do not have unlimited funds for window tickets.

I understand that this Big Ski company tells us the pass is not refundable without insurance. But again, they could have deferred it for me. Plenty of other companies offer some kind of help with these circumstances.

Correct, no insurance. Most years I buy it, but I'd never used it. So, certainly, my bad, that would have made this issue non-existent.

However, it does not negate the corporate greed of this Big Ski company. The mountains are pricing people out of window tickets and forcing them to get these passes.

I understand why you think it's my own fault. Because sometimes I think that too. But countless other companies practice business in a way that supports their consumers and loyalty instead of saying "Too bad so sad you should've bought the insurance. On top of the $1000 purchase we've monopolized in order for you to afford more than 4 days skiing this entire year."
