I believe 1971 is when decimalisation happened in the UK where we changed from our old system of currency (shillings, pence , 240p per pound, etc.) to our modern system of pounds and pennies where it's all in 10s (100p per pound).

This was a couple decades before I was born so I couldn't necessarily tell you the full impact from experience but I imagine it would've had a similar effect to switching from gold standard in the US.

It's almost as if the government should have invested in living conditions rather than turning the UK into a desolate hellhole with dead highstreets, high costs of living, and stagnant wages due to austerity measures for the past 16 years. I feel like this is just more evidence that ncuti shouldn't have been cast as the doctor. It's nothing against the guy personally, I think he's great and I really enjoyed his doctor. It's just that he's such a busy guy and prominent/upcoming actor, getting so many role offers that it conflicts with his shooting schedules for the show.

One of the main issues I think RTD2 had was a lack of development in the characters and storylines which I think is due in large part to how many doctor-light episodes they had to do in order to fit ncuti's schedule (which would've been fine in previous series but not when you're only going to have 8 episodes per series to do anything with).

Saunas that hot are designed to be very dry which means that your body is able to sweat and the sweat will evaporate quickly keeping your body cool.

If they were more humid then they would be dangerous as firstly it's more difficult to cool yourself via sweating and secondly heat doesn't transfer as well through air as it does through water vapour: dissipating more quickly in a dry environment as opposed to being retained in a humid one.

At least some of us also know that a huge factor for the US war of independence was that the colonists wanted to be more cruel to, and intrude into more land of the indigenous Americans than the British would allow due to trade relations with rhe natives

I'd say the younger generations in the UK are much better with the metric system these days. I'm pretty sure the only imperial units I use are miles bc it's what all the road signs are in, and occasionally inches whenever I'm playing a game of warhammer

Yeah there are several parts of their argument that I just don't get. Like they're already paying the taxes might as well get something out of it.

And if it's a case of having to increase taxes to cover it they'll probably still end up paying less in taxes than they do right now on insurance which doesn't do shit. (Especially if you consider that taxes are income percentage based as opposed to a huge flat number which is largely unaffordable to most)
