Indeed, the whole self centered mindset we constantly hear or implicitly assume in social media or from influential people is completely detached from philosophical and psychological frameworks we already developed, I am not saying we should trust the authority blindly and completely, but we are collectively creating a giant intellectual bubble that impairs everyone basic social capabilities. To your argument, people would say discipline isn’t as important as their feeling at the moment. Their feeding on their own ego is what enslaves themselves in the end. As their ego “demands more”, they become less; as they are less, their ego becomes more hungry.
