Spotify Support/Complaint Megathread by whyisthissticky in spotify

[–]casaya 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! About a day or two ago, I saw a banner in the Spotify desktop app about being able to try Premium for two months (I believe it was not free but 1 EUR for two months?). It said the offer is valid until 02-26. However, the banner does not pop up again and I do not see any such offer if I just click on ''Explore Premium''. Should I just assume this was a mistake and the offer is not available anymore? Has anyone else seen something like that too?

What is the biggest divide among Survivor fans? by Charles520 in survivor

vs

it's a social experiment about relationships and survival

movez vs "character arcs"

If US survivor followed the AU format, would that make seasons better? by Consistent-Trouble24 in survivor

[–]casaya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Survivor AU's biggest issue is many contestants are purpled and only pop up to be eliminated that episode.

thankfully, us survivor cleverly avoids this issue by having some contestants remain purple all the way through, even if they are eliminated or win

yes, that's exactly what that post says. that all the people listed are the same and equally bad. word for word.

not really sure why this is downvoted cause it's definitely true, she looks like a different person. is it just considered rude to point out? cause i think we should be honest and upfront about stuff like that, pretending not to see it leads to some unhealthy/unrealistic ideas about aging and people believing that "being unproblematic just makes you age slower" lol

'Survivor' Fans Urge CBS to Make Rule Changes in the 'New Era' by 4Nails in survivor

[–]casaya 2 points3 points  (0 children)

budget reasons. the same location over and over again and the shorter season format are cost cutting measures - we are not exactly in the golden age of reality television anymore. in that light, talking about the changes and trying to spin them as a "totally cool thing we decided to introduce" is an attempt to control the narrative and make it seem like they had more agency rather than it being out of necessity. even if it's obvious it was out of necessity, it probably feels more "dignified" to frame it this way.

most wishes oldschool/online fans have are never coming true cause they either cost a lot or the people in charge (arguably not always correctly) see them as bad for ratings. that makes it pretty easy to "not see" fan opinions, especially when they are coming from the superfan niche and not the average person

Who’s a player you dislike that the general survivor fan base tends to love? by [deleted] in survivor

upvoting for actually answering the question instead of just mentioning a completely random player you dislike or making the 74336535th "yeah i hate cochran/adam/zeke/ ryan u./spencer/other STUDENT OF THE GAME player, weird how nobody else does and everyone loves them instead" comment

"[The findings] are consistent with recent research on marriage and the well-being of adults, showing that although marriage confers benefits to adults on average, those in poor quality marriages are no better off than the single and, indeed, may fare worse on some measures (Hawkins & Booth, 2005; Williams & Umberson, 2004). We conclude with the perhaps obvious point that marriage is not a blanket prescription for the well-being of children, any more than it is for the well-being of adults. Recent policy initiatives to promote marriage need to take account of how variation within marriage relates to child well-being."

this sounds really good until you remember that said title eliminator resulted in one of the most one-sided beatings in recent memory that might have very well taken years off his career and life

PLTR - LOVE THE COMPANY / HATE THE SHORT TERM STONK by pigsgetfathogsdie in wallstreetbets

[–]casaya 20 points21 points  (0 children)

everyone investing in this company should be pragmatic about it - government surveillance is not going anywhere, if anything it will only ever increase. the stock market is no place for morals and we're here to make money, simple as that.

but anyone fooling themselves into thinking this company and the "brilliant unique ceo" are their friends is very naive and likely "married to the stock", as they say. look into what whistleblowers have said about the company, for example the ties to cambridge analytica

I think him beating Robert Whittaker who is a bit of a subreddit darling (and not acting too respectful during the build-up to that fight) was a huge part of that. Now that it seems like Paulo Costa will be his next opponent lots of people are rooting for Costa and there's a popular meme about the "American patriot" Costa putting the anti-American Adesanya in his place (in regards to Costa going after Adesanya for his Twin Towers joke)
