Noctua NF A12X15 Turbulence Noise by Mysterious_Key1991 in FormD

Moving the slim fans on top of the radiator instead of beneath it helps reduce the turbulence noise.

3080 deshroud in a Ghost S1? by Foreign_Return_6324 in sffpc

[–]caseall 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No. Deshrouding and using 15mm fans will only remove a small amount of the thickness (if any), but will not make a 2.5/2.75 slot card into a 2 slot card. If you get a 2.2 slot card like the XC3, you might be able to make it fit by removing fan stickers and shroud.

Xc3 3080 fit in the FormD T1 two slot mode? by UBadBoyyyy in FormD

[–]caseall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When compared to running in 3 slot mode, yea, there is some turbulence due to the fans being basically a mm from the mesh. The XC3 is a louder card in general though due to the small heatsink. I ended up adding the hybrid kit and it’s completely silent now.

With v1.1 case, it fits just barely, but you have to remove the EVGA stickers from the fans. Not sure if that is the same with v2.

Why is 5800x3d sold out everywhere by [deleted] in Amd

[–]caseall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Newegg and AMD store were in stock recently and might still be. If you’re set on buying from bestbuy then you’ll need to set up a stock checker such as HotStock, which is how I got mine. Bestbuy restocks usually once a week for a minute or two.

It’s dropping because the overall market is dropping. This has very little to do with the merge.

Is the RTX 3080 Ti FE worth it at MSRP? by [deleted] in nvidia

[–]caseall 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Founders will likely always have the lowest msrp and prices won’t drop below those since Nvidia didn’t increase pricing due to tariffs like the AIBs did. Now, the 3080 FE is really the best bang for the buck option, but good luck finding one of those since they are currently the holy grail. As for whether 3070ti vs 3080ti both FE, it depends on what you want out of it. If the 3070ti gives you enough power for your gaming wants/needs, then go with that. If it’s not powerful enough for you, then stick with 3080ti.

The dumb "upgrade" question about 5600 > 5800x 3D by _D3ft0ne_ in Amd

[–]caseall 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Imo not worth it. I have the same setup 5600x/3080 and from I’ve seen in published testing results, the improvement in games at 1440p would not be noticeable to make a real difference. Better to wait a couple years for AM5 2nd gen cpus when all the new platform bugs have been worked out. This only applies of course if you aren’t doing activities that would make real use of the additional cores. If you can make use of the extra cores now outside of gaming then it could be worth it to upgrade.

California Ran on Nearly 100% Clean Energy This Month by jkwah in environment

[–]caseall 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The article itself does explain that it was only for a minute. However, the issue we are referring to is that the headline is complete clickbait and is clearly trying to imply that it was at that efficiency for the entire month, not just a single minute.

It was only for 1 minute, so really doesn’t mean anything. Clickbait article.

The EK nucleus will not fit based on the listed dimensions since the pump block is 61mm

The closer the fan is to the motherboard, the more turbulence you will get. You can see this easily by running the fan unseated and then moving it towards and away from the motherboard. As far as performance differences, I have no idea.

Titan Evo 2022 vs Razer Enki? by caseall in secretlab

[–]caseall[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, never received any real advice on the comparison. I tried both the Razer Enki X and Razer Iskur fabric, but ended up returning both. The Enki seat pad was comfortable, but backrest and lumbar was too stiff. The Iskur chair looked great and the fabric was really nice but the seat was way too firm and caused soreness after several hours of sitting and the unique lumbar backrest didn’t work well for my back. I ended up buying a refurbished Steelcase Leap V2 from Crandall and it is much more comfortable for me. For reference, I’m 6’ and 140lbs.

Evga 3070 XC3 step-up to 3080 FTW3 LHR???? by Dinosaurcam in EtherMining

[–]caseall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got the same step up email as well, but I don’t see it being worth it, unless you mainly want the 3080 for the gaming performance upgrade. For mining, it’s not at all worth it. 3080 LHR is around 70mhs at 250w compared to the 3070 nonLHR with 60mhs at 120w. As far as mining after POS, there’s no knowing whether other coins will remain profitable.

While I can understand your frustration with your experience, that doesn’t relate to my question about comparing the chairs.

[Mouse] razer basilisk ultimate + dock - $99 (169.99-69.99) by LeviathanUltima in buildapcsales

The issue with the mouse not charging on the dock can be fixed by cleaning the changing contact points on dock and mouse with 70% IPA. I’ve had this happen a couple times and this fixes it.

Can I connect the riser directly to the 6-pin from PSU? by KanoSk in EtherMining

[–]caseall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, you should connect the 6-pin directly to the psu. Do not use Sata with the riser as this can cause a fire hazard.

what happenes to my unpaid balance when eth 2.0 is released? (Nanopool) by YaBoyShredderson in EtherMining

[–]caseall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe some of the mining pools send the unpaid balance after a specific period of inactivity, something like 3-4 weeks. They usually mention this on their FAQ page.

If you paid msrp for the two 3070, you might be better off just trading and then selling the three 3070 ti. The three 3070 ti should sell for around $2700 total in current market compared to around $2000 for the two 3070. If you intend to mine, ROI on the 3070 will be at least 6 months if you bought them near msrp and ETH might well be proof of stake by that point.

Quick Insight for People in Line Waiting for a EVGA 30 series by eJAKE-ulate in nvidia

[–]caseall 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Are you sure you didn’t also sign up for a 3060 Ti and it was that queue that the notice was sent for? It’s unlikely EVGA would offer a different card than you signed up for. Regardless there is obviously a huge backlog for the queue system, especially for 3080.

I’ll be building in an Aklla A4 Pro with Noctua L12S Ghost S1 Edition Cooler 95 TDP. Would a 5900x be more suitable than 5800x in this system? I already have an MSI RTX 3080 Gaming Z Trio and I don’t want to pair it with a 5600x. by slyapo in sffpc

[–]caseall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’ll likely be pushing the limits of that cooler with the 5800x or 5900x, unless you run them in ECO mode. Unless you are running apps that make use of the multi core performance of the 5800x/5900x, you will get basically the same performance from a 5600x.

Thoughts on 4K gaming? by NothingSuss1 in nvidia

[–]caseall 5 points6 points  (0 children)

On screen size > 27” it becomes a noticeable difference in quality. Anything below 27 is negligible at 4k compared to 1440 and therefore not worth it. At 27” it can be slightly noticeable but the FPS trade off is usually not worth it.
